View Full Version : Weight loss feel good moments
dyslexicgod April 8th, 2008, 03:38 PM I didn't see a thread for this, so I thought I would start one out.
I was shopping with my wife last night and ran into a friend I haven't seen in about a year. I have lost over 70lbs since the last time I saw him. The first thing he said was "Look at you. You got skinny!" We talked for a bit and he asked how I have lost the weight. I took a moment to plug JSF (since John was an inspiration to get my butt moving I thought it was the least I could do) and also talk about the things I have done.
I left and felt great. I don't think I am skinny yet, but I can see the size loss in the mirror. I can feel the difference. It was great to hear first thing from someone else how noticeable the weight loss is.
So what about you? I am sure a lot of people here have had those some feelings. That little touch of pride when someone notice the changes you have made to your body. Care to share?
Ohh and if you made it to the forums, like I suggested, How's it going, V?
kevin_in_ga April 8th, 2008, 03:42 PM Just bought my first set of 34" pants in 10 years (or more ...). Got home and tried them on - they fit wonderfully.
Now THAT felt good!
shannonlee April 8th, 2008, 04:13 PM My mom (who I haven't seen since Xmas) told me I looked like a twig (I'm not that skinny). My sister commented on what my mom said, and I said with glee, She said that because she hates me. :p We both laughed because we knew it was true (my mom is very competitive with other women, even her daughters-when it comes to the looks department).

That is a great feeling. I bought some size 38 shorts from Costco a few weeks ago. I was happy to be buing 38's instead of 44's. I was even happier when I got home, put them on, and then drove back to Costco to exchange them for the 36's..
Grats on the new pants!! I have never worn a 34, but hopefully I will be there someday.

Now you need to schedule a make over for her. Send a card along that says "I figure you need this to look as good as I do!"
She gave you a good laugh and a good feeling inside and that is what counts.

Is it a good thing to look like a twig?
Last spring, my husband was talking at work about how I'd been going out jogging at night, and one of his coworkers asked "Don't you worry that it's dangerous? You never know what kind of person she could run into." He shrugged, and said "You haven't seen my wife lately." :flex: :p
Apolon April 8th, 2008, 07:00 PM I like when people you haven't seen in awhile notice the change. Fitting into more clothes that have been in drawers/closet for a long time.
My wife bought for me in November some pants that were size 56. They were snug in the legs and waist and now they are way to big for me. I tried on some old 48's and I could almost button them. My belt was a 58 inch belt and at my heaviest I could barely get the first notch latched. Well there are 6 notches in it, and since then I have had to drill 2 holes in it to use it.
The main reason I am losing weight is for my wife and baby. I have been overweight for so long and I don't want my son seeing me like this and getting any bad habits. That's whats going to be the best feeling in the world.
tsk2264 April 8th, 2008, 07:36 PM My family members keep commenting on how much younger I look. I've lost about 15 pounds (from 180 to 165) and I think the thinner shape of my face is making me look younger. Hearing this all the time will never get old!
shannonlee April 8th, 2008, 09:16 PM Is it a good thing to look like a twig?
NO! It's not.
Trust me, I don't look like a twig. :) It's just, to understand my mom is to understand why she said that. Her saying I look like a twig is her way of giving me a compliment, and getting a compliment from my mom (even her version of a compliment) is few and far between, so I just know my transformation is noticeable.
Big_Simon April 8th, 2008, 09:40 PM All of these happened in the last 10 days.
I reached my -40lb goal
Tried on a pair of 36" jeans that I last wore about 3 years ago and they fit!
Today I jogged 5K and feel fine. Love it!!
Azure April 9th, 2008, 01:16 AM When people I knew 2 years ago don't recognize me because of the weight I've lost.
Getting into the size 38 jeans is pretty much an awesome feeling too.
Doubleoqueso April 9th, 2008, 10:18 AM I saw a group of friends for the first time in two years, and one said "Wow, you look different!" and my other buddy chimed in, "Yeah, about 50 pounds different!"
I was happy, and also impressed at his guess, because I'd lost about 50 pounds since they last saw me :)
guava April 9th, 2008, 11:58 AM getting a compliment from my mom (even her version of a compliment) is few and far between, so I just know my transformation is noticeable.Oh, okay. :tu: My grandmother always seemed compelled to make some comment about how much I was growing. When I was about 11 years old, she greeted me at the door with "Oh, you've gotten fat!" and then later on that same day insisted "Eat, eat, you're so skinny!" Not good at all for the self-esteem of a preteen. :nono:
So I guess I try not to put too much weight on other people's evaluations of whether my body size is appropriate for me. I'd rather them notice that I look happier or that I'm stronger.
mcp2 April 9th, 2008, 03:15 PM I used to have a pair of 42" jeans that were tighter than bolt in an aeroplane but now I need a belt to wear them! I tried on a pair of my dads 36" and they fitted me!
