Hello everyone. I have had an illness for 5 days now  and have not been able to eat anything except for toast and water . I am still only able to eat toast and water . My question is, should I weight train :bb: or should I wait till I am eating 6 meals again with protein in my diet? I am not feeling bad at all, I just can't eat.
Thanks,
BW

Hard to say mate, what is the illness ?

To be honest it's carbs which give you the energy for lifting and if you're able to eat bread then you might be okay, weightlifting might enable you to hold onto muscle that you might otherwise lose with no lifting and a low protein diet.

Of course I'm no doctor and I don't know what the illness is, probs best to check with your doctor if it's okay.

just wondering about breaking down the muscle without the protein to fix it?

I don't think you should train if something as simple as eating a healthy meal is being restrained. It's best to go to the doctors and find out whats wrong with you.

If you're still sick, your body is already catabolic. There's no sense in working out and compounding the problem. If it was a cold, I'd say go ahead and work out. But if it's affecting your stomach that much, it's a bit worse. Plus, you're not getting the calories you need. Take a few more days and fully recuperate. I know it's hard not to lift, but it's better for you in the long run. Even when you're not sick, a week off is good every now and then. So use this as your rest week.

Yeah, my thoughts too. If you're not able to tolerate normal food, then I can't imagine that weight training is a good idea. But as others have said, see your doctor.

Thanks. I am all better now. I did not lift till I got better but I was not happy. I lost 1/2 inch in my arms due to water loss but I finally have it back. Thanks again for the advice. :tucool:
