Hi All, I've been reading on the board here recently.

I had an accident back in 08/05 that left me with a broken wrist. It completely derailed me and I gained a hefty sum over the last few years. I knew all to well I was a mess and felt horrible through the 07 holidays. I got on the scale on Jan. 2 and was heavier then I've ever been.

So I got the ball rolling again. I used some cardio to get things going on a stationary bike and treadmill. Then I got some weights involved and seriously started watching my food intake.

To date, I've lost 35.5 lbs and have gone from a 38 to a 33 jean. It feels great to be back fit again. I don't plan on lifting heavy this time. I'm 47 and am looking for overall fitness and well being.

I've realized for myself that I will have to stay on top of this constantly if I want to maintain this level of fit. This lead me to create a spreadsheet to help me track/monitor/keep in tune with things. I've posted my results on my webpage. http://www.spritehawk.com/fitness/fitness08.htm

Back in 05 I had been doing a decent amount of running and had thought about the Chicago Marathon, I'm gearing up for that again and have signed up and paid the cabbage.

Thanks for all the insight,
Wirenut

Welcome to the forum and congrats for getting back on track. You've done a great job losing the weight and reducing that waistline.

Marathon sounds challenging but exciting at the same time. I've only ever run a 5K and that was just last summer. I'd like to get into running a little more this year.

Thanks carguy!

My longest run this season has been 10 miles at 5.0mph pace. It was very comfortable but I felt it for a couple days. The weather is getting warm and my treadmill lost its motor today, so I'm thinking some outside running is in my future this Saturday. I'm looking forward to this. It'll be good to get outside again that doesn't involve winter camping. :)

The challenge is that the treadmill is much easier on the body then the asphalt is, so it'll be slow going to prevent too much shin troubles.

Be fit and stay well.
