and I will not take being fat anymore!

Hey, all. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I've been lurking for about two weeks. I found the forums, while researching HIIT. After I learned about HIIT I stayed around and soaked in as much nutrition and fitness knowledge as I could. This place is awesome!

I've been working out for about 3 months now, but now I'm starting to change some things. My commitment level has gone way up. I'm planning my meals a day in advance. I've calculated that I need about 2400 calories to lose about a pound in a week. I've gotten my macro nutrients to a strict 50/30/20 (c/p/f) diet. I'm doing a HIIT 3 mornings a week. (First time I've gotten up early to run that didn't involve running with a girl I liked ... and I only did that once ... guess I didn't like her THAT much). I'm lifting heavy and doing squats and dead lifts for the first time since high school.

These are all things I didn't know to do or wasn't motivated enough to do before coming here. I just wanted you all to know what a help you have been.

John, the website is awesome. You are living motivation.

Hey Blitzkrieg. :tu:

How in the heck is 175 lbs "fat"? I've never heard someone say "damn, that guy must weigh 175 lbs for crying out loud" in regards to someone being fat.

haha ... Well, I guess I'm not technically "fat". I have always had a fair amount of subcutaneous fat on the front and sides of my belly and on my chest.

I settled into a sedentary lifestyle after a marriage and a knee surgery and started getting a case of "dunlaps disease". (where your pants dunlapped over your belt) It was just a mild case, but it still scared the crap out of me. I don't want to look like the typical computer nerd.

I've lost about 10 pounds in the last few months, so I'm close to being back to my pre-surgery condition. Now I've decided to go all out. My short term goal is to look somewhat close to Brad Pitt in Fight Club or Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke, depending on how realistic I'm being about the amount of lean mass I currently have.

Honestly, I don't think I have too much further to go. My belly is starting to flatten out, but I don't really see a hint of abs yet. I don't think setting a time line for a look would be a good motivational tool. Instead, I'm going to just stay the course and make small adjustments to my diet and exercise as I learn more and see how I'm progressing.
