View Full Version : Progress pics [Starting Journey]
Inflames Sun, March 23rd, 2008, 08:16 PM Okay so like said in my previous post I just got that Treadmill and am in LOVE with it.
I used to run a lot when I was a kid and enjoyed it, Until I was 15 years old when I started getting pain in my leg. Doctor found out 1 leg was a few centimeters longer then the other. He gave a big explanation as to why it caused me pain but I can't remember, was years ago.
Anywho I haven't been able to run much since and guess what!
The treadmill doesn't bother me when I run! Yay! :D
Oh and these are starting pictures. I know they're not that good but they'll do for now.

I hate my back....
Anywho this should be great motivation, I didn't realize I looked THIS bad until after I took the photos.
Here I go! Expect pictures in a week!
daciz2 Sun, March 23rd, 2008, 10:45 PM I like running too but it's too hard on the knees.
pirothezero Wed, March 26th, 2008, 02:24 AM Good luck on your journey, whenever it gets tough just don't think about it. As a last resort come back here and we'll knock you back on the road.
Inflames Sat, April 12th, 2008, 06:18 PM Sorry about not keeping up the pictures, I've just been discouraged as I've gone from 192 - 200 lbs..
Could it be from me lifting? Surely that's too much of a weight gain in a week.
Anywho I'm still keeping to my regular routine and let's hope I see some results soon.

What does your nutrition look like? What improvements have been made compared to the eating habits that got you into the shape where you started from?
I wouldn't worry too much about one week of scale fluctuation. There's nothing dramatic that can occur one way or the other in that short of time.
Mindset, dedication, and consistency are more important than short term visual results at this point.
Inflames Sun, April 13th, 2008, 11:07 AM Before I was eating stuff like pizza, buritos, burgers, fries stuff like that daily.
Just basically food I shouldn't be eating in general.
But then I started reading Gravity Homers weight loss guide and I've been following it.
About 6 meals a day, 5 if I can't manage 6 and usually around 1900-2000 calories.
Eating stuff like
Kashi Cereal
Skim Milk
Bananas
Chicken
Fruit "General"
lets of veggies
100% whole wheat bread
eggs "I've been eating them raw. http://www.regenerativenutrition.com/content.asp?id=268 I thought it would be better then cooking them up after reading that."
LOTS of water

Where's your protein? Looks like you've been eating mostly carbs. Where are your healthy fats? Post a detailed outline of your diet plan including the amounts you eat in the beginner's section and people will be able to comment on your plan and help you improve it.
Raw eggs are not a good idea because 1) the protein in them can't be used as well by your body (bioavailability is about 50% as opposed to 90% with cooked eggs) and 2) you could pick up salmonella which would likely lead to weight loss but not the kind you want. We just had a thread on this in the nutrition section, I believe.
docutech Sun, April 13th, 2008, 11:27 AM I agree, here (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=42205) is a very informative post regarding raw egg consumption. I used to drink pasteurized egg whites, now I cook them . I wouldn't think of eating raw eggs :nono:
Inflames Sun, April 13th, 2008, 04:07 PM Ah thanks for the heads up. Would have been bad if I kept doing that.
I haven't really been keeping track of fats, cabs, protein.
Tomorrow I'll keep track of everything I eat and write down all the values and such and post it so you can get an idea.
goonie Sun, April 13th, 2008, 04:49 PM You can find people getting into back and forth debates all day long about the advantages/disadvantages of raw eggs. The raw egg advocates will tell you something about the benefit of raw yolks, while the opposing side will state something about the lack of bioavailability of the raw egg white.
What is clear from both sides is that you want to stay away from truly raw egg whites without the yolk and its concentration of biotin to offset the avidin in the whites.
I like the taste of cooked eggs, and I don't know what salmonella smells like (even though the risk might be low), so I just cook the suckers most of the time. :)
Keeping a food journal for a few weeks would be a good idea. Even without all the numbers, it's a helpful way to examine your overall nutritional habits.
It sounds like you have a lot going for you with access to the boxing and MMA equipment. Train with an emphasis on noticably increasing your athleticism, strength, and power, and your body will take on a more athletic, stronger and more powerful look. Works everytime. :D
Inflames Mon, April 14th, 2008, 02:56 PM Thanks for the advice.
I weigh about 190
and I'm going with the 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat guideline
so 200 gm/200 gm/45 gm a day
"Thank you to kevin_in_ga (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/member.php?u=26301) for that information"
I'll keep editing this post, Btw I think the cereal I'm eating has WAY too many carbs.
Food:
Force Active Cereal - 434 calories,13g protein,6g fat, 81g carbs
2% Milk(don't have skim yet) - 130 calories,9g protein,5g fat, 12g carbs
Meal1: Force Active Cereal w/2% Milk = 564 Calories,22g Protein,11g Fat,93g carbs
