After doing weighted dips, I get a pain in my left collar bone for a day or two afterward....it is not severe...its just there....:blank:

Has anyone else experienced this?
Does this sound like a classic form related issue?

I'd say go shallow or find a new exercise.... risk isn't worth the reward on that one (imo).

Use it as a finisher (after all chest exercises are complete), unweighted should be challenging enough, slow it down if it isn't.

The same thing happen to me until I realised that I was flaring my elbows to the sides instead of straight back

Could this be it?

Though you probably shouldn't take advice on dips from me considering I'm currently got a strained tendon in my hand from dips

Thanks guys... I'll do a double/triple check on the form.
I'm notorious for the dreaded elbow flare...I've been known to do it on the BB Bench as well...

I'll take a look at a couple videos regarding the depth. I don't want to sacrifice too much depth because thats where I get the good pec stretch...but maybe there is a reasonable compromise.

Cheers!

Hey, I get this too, doing dips without any extra weight. It's a sharp (but fortunately brief) pain by just my right collarbone.

I never considered that form was an issue. I just chalked it up to my aging joints. God, it sounds bad to say that...I'm only 41.
