View Full Version : weekly weigh in
smuhhh Tue, March 4th, 2008, 10:14 AM just did my weigh in. at 190, down from a high of 214 (the highest I ever weighed myself anyways). im 6,1 and was planning to drop to around 185... but at 5 pounds away, I don't feel like im going to be trim enough at that weight. its sort of a nice/bad feeling to know I have to lose more now.... probably drop down to 175 before I start a bulk or maintnance. anyone else get this when they shed some weight?

I had exactly that feeling. I was about 200lbs and thought that I needed to lose about 15lbs to reach my desired level of bodyfat. When I got to 185lbs I realised I would probably have to lose another 15lbs. I lost about another 15lbs and still wasn't quite there but I have so little mass that if I went lower I'd look like a stick.
You can see for yourself in my media gallery which is linked in my sig.
Flows Tue, March 4th, 2008, 02:18 PM I started at 205 on 10/1/07. I am now 181 lbs. When I got to 190 I thought I would look thinner and more defined. I found that I needed to go lower. Now at 181 I think I probably need to be at 175 to look how I want. I totally understand the feeling of great progress not being quite enough. I'm 6ft btw.
Rise Tue, March 4th, 2008, 03:41 PM if it makes you feel better, i'm 5'9 and 150, realizing that I probably have to cut to 145 to get <10% bf  so I'm trying to gain LBM without gaining fat which seems to be working but its oh-so-slow.
smuhhh Tue, March 4th, 2008, 10:01 PM thanks for the replies, It is a bit irritating, but at the same time its all the more rewarding when you get down to where you are happy I guess. I remember being at 175 a few years ago and being really happy with how I looked, cant beleive I let myself go again. Im also finding that even though I know im losing fat, I look at myself in the mirror sometimes and think I havent changed a bit, and other times im super happy with the results... my mind is just f***ing with me I guess.
odin1642 Tue, March 4th, 2008, 10:57 PM I'm on a strange cut at moment where my weight was at highest about 185, was able to drop that to 155 within 4 months, in last 2 months it's gone up to 160 on a pretty low calorie level but waist size has continued to drop. I'm fitting into 30 inch waist jeans now at a higher weight than I thought I would a couple of months back.
Looking in the mirror though despite now fitting 30 inch waist jeans, it looks to me though that would have to lose another 12-14lbs to get really defined. Which is depressing. And I think that will take me a further 3 months. So I'm aiming for unchartered territory for me in adulthood, an easy fit into 28 inch waisted jeans, frightening thought. And I'm hoping that doesn't mean I have to drop 14lbs of weight to get there, just praying some muscle can be added so the net drop in weight aint too high. I don't fancy going as low as 145 or so at 5 feet 10. Whilst that might have me looking bigger topless due to the muscle definition, presumably whilst clothed I'll look smaller and skelf like. And in Scotland one isn't often walking about the streets topless, the term "beach weather" has no relevance here.
kevin_in_ga Wed, March 5th, 2008, 10:13 AM A quick "me too" on this topic. I started out at 250 lbs in September, and am now at 211 lbs and 15-16% BF. I thought I would be looking beach ready - not even close right now. Still need to drop about a dozen pounds of fat to meet my personal goals (200 lbs at 10%BF). Hopefully this will occur in 8-10 weeks, but at that time I have no doubt I'll reassess and want to be at 190!
For me right now, dropping 10 pounds does not seem all that hard since I have been able to do this and more without really suffering. Consequently, I think I'll continue to push on BF% until I hit a wall - wherever that ends up, that will be my maintanence target.
