For those that are successful cutting, does mixing in some MISS help? I only do HIIT right now.

If HIIT isn't doing it for you, give LISS, HISS, or MISS a try. Or mix it up! zenpharaohs Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 05:39 PM For those that are successful cutting, does mixing in some MISS help? I only do HIIT right now. I use a lot of MISS but I am not cutting. The main thing you get from MISS is some mitochondrial expansion, which is useful for endurance building if you already do HIIT. As far as fat burning, HIIT is a bit more efficient. mastover Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 05:44 PM For those that are successful cutting, does mixing in some MISS help? I only do HIIT right now. Get under a bar and start squatting. Cutting shouldn't be a concern for you at your current stats. You need to put on some lean mass while upregulating your metabolism. zenpharaohs Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 05:53 PM Get under a bar and start squatting. He can keep the HIIT if he wants to though, it's the most efficient form of conditioning even if he's not cutting. fullpen Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 07:14 PM Get under a bar and start squatting. I'm not looking to gain huge mass, more important for me to shed the fat. I'm going for the lean and mean look. zenpharaohs Sun, February 24th, 2008, 12:45 AM I'm doing the squats twice a week. Diet is gonna be the main thing. Cardio is the secondary tool useful for fatloss. Compound lifts like squats help you retain muscle mass (which is equally important). zenpharaohs Sun, February 24th, 2008, 02:07 AM Diet is gonna be the main thing. Cardio is the secondary tool useful for fatloss. Compound lifts like squats help you retain muscle mass (which is equally important). Cardio, in the traditional sense, is not as useful as lifting. This is because you can get your HIIT and lifting at the same time from just lifting. If you do traditional cardio for HIIT then you have to displace some of your lifting. And if you do traditional cardio for LISS, then it's not as efficient as HIIT for burning fat. The thing about using the lifting in place of HIIT is that you need to have enough muscle and high enough exercise capacity to do it. But it's not really that hard to get sufficient strength and strength endurance. The squats also stimulate muscle growth and increase your exercise capacity, which allows you to keep burning fat effectively. As you lose body fat, it gets harder to keep burning it, and the extra muscle helps do the harder work. |
