I have one protein powder drink a day right after my workout. I mix using either water or whole milk(6 oz). Personally I prefer the milk, but I wonder if I should keep things in moderation by alternating with water.

I guess this would depend largely on what the rest of your diet looks like and what your goals are.

milk is actually rather high in both carbs and fats, a factor which makes it unattractive for many people.

i sometimes use half milk-half water. i add milk for taste. you can gradually substitute milk with water to get used to the taste. but it all depends on you specific goals, the overall picture i mean.

If you want the taste and not the carbs you can go for a tablespoon (or two) of heavy whipping cream...
I add it sometimes to get my calories and fats up....

because I use a whey only protein powder, I mix it with milk if I want it to release slower into my bloodstream. Mornings and at night for example you'd want it to be slower. For bulking too, it adds more protein and calories. But for cutting might as well get Nitrean and mix with water only
