View Full Version : Anything out there taste as good as Muscle Milk?
Mjolnir Wed, February 20th, 2008, 02:04 PM I've tried a few now, and have some Isoflex chocolate chip that I dig into when my MM supply runs out, it is palatable if I mix a scoop pf slim-fast chocolate meal replacement powder with it. But nothing I have tasted comes close to the taste of Muscle Milk, not that I have found anyway.
Any suggestions?
thanks!
ps. what is the general feeling about MM here, is it a pretty good product? It's certainly loaded up calorie-wise, which is what I am looking for right now..
guano~~ Wed, February 20th, 2008, 02:20 PM nothing I've ever tried has come even remotely close to the taste of muscle milk, no.

Biotest's Surge and Metabolic Drive are pretty damn good.

chris0374 Thu, February 21st, 2008, 01:26 PM Biotest Metabolic Drive is the best tasting protein powder I ever had. It's just as good as Muscle Milk without all the carbs and fat. I also heard good things about Beverly International's Ultra Size. Biotest's Surge is for post workout so I wouldn't use it for meal replacement. EAS Myoplex is actually pretty good too. People say At Large Nutrition's Nitrean is good but personally, I think the taste falls short by a lot compared to Metabolic Drive, although I have no doubt the protein quality is just as good. The one thing Nitrean does better than Metabolic Drive is that is that Nitrean has more protein and less carbs than Metabolic Drive's, which may make it more favorable. It also costs less. I never tried At Large Nutrition's meal replacement Opticen so that may be something you should try. It probably taste better than Nitrean since it has carbs and such.
mattback Thu, February 21st, 2008, 02:24 PM add 18g of fat to anyshake and it will taste good!!!
woodan Thu, February 21st, 2008, 02:26 PM The best tasting protein drink I've had so far was Maximuscle cyclone. It was delicious, but the product was probably garbage. My chocolate Nitrean tastes a bit eggy. My Opticen is lovely, but I mix that with a load of dex as well.
chris mason Thu, February 21st, 2008, 08:53 PM Try Opticen or MAXIMUS. Both products have carbs and thus taste better. In fact, I would put chocolate MAXIMUS up against anything on the market to include Muscle Milk. It not only tastes as good, it will provide better results as it has truly ergogenic ingredients.

Big_D Thu, February 21st, 2008, 10:03 PM Muscle milk tastes the best by a long shot, but it's like having a milkshake . Beverly Muscle Provider and UMP are good, they taste like cake.
Pete5 Thu, February 21st, 2008, 10:35 PM I've always thought muscle milk tasted slightly above average at best. Natural chocolate and strawberry banana were ok while plain strawberry was probably the best. My taste buds must be different because I just don't see the hype.

Yep, as we speak. We will introduce at least 2 new flavors over the next few months.

Mjolnir Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 12:22 PM I will try some of the nitrean next trip to the city, I stopped yesterday and picked up some more MM as well as some of the cyto-gainer product they make, but I don't remember seeing any of the nitrean product at this store (Popeyes in Edmonton) However I am in a smaller city (Lloydminster)until tomorrow so maybe I'll see what they have here for supplement stores and perhaps try some of the Nitrean product. I may have to wait though, spent $200 yesterday by the time I restocked on creatine and glutamine - as it is I have to hide the bills from this stuff from wifey..

Just so you know, you'd have to get nitrean directly from At Large Nutrition online. They're fast and saves me the hassle of dealing with supplement stores.
stallion16 Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 03:33 PM I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned yet, but you should try BSN Syntha-6...I kid u not, this stuff tastes even better than muscle milk...it's the best tasting protein powder I've ever had in my life. (BTW, I had the chocolate flavor)
jkugelman Sat, February 23rd, 2008, 06:19 PM Maximus is to  for. Mm!

It's all taste, not health. Muscle Milk is popular, but I always find it funny who uses it. Nonetheless, I have found a good protein blend that works for my muscles: 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of skim mlik, 10g dextrose and strawberry Nitrean. Excellent post-workout shake, though I stick with just regular water for anything else.
