My brother wants to take 10 protein shakes per day for a week and nothing else.
Is this dangerous?
Obviously he will drink water as well but the shakes will contain milk or water.

Yeah, that = stupid. If he wants a hardcore liquid diet, tell him to look up the Velocity Diet.....which, while not ideal, is certainly more nutritionally sound than a protein-shake only diet.

I don't know Joe, whey protein shakes in water only (I know milk was mentioned as well) for a full day's worth of calories is kinda close to the V-Diet.
Substitutions would be:
1. Using a whey + cassein blend powder instead of whey only (although many have done whey only with success.)
2. Water only in shakes, no milk.
3. Use of milled flax seeds in shakes
4. Eating one healthy solid meal per week.
5. Optional usage of fish oil caps and thermogenics.
I do agree with you on the fact that adding the healthy fats into the mix does increase the nutritional value of the PSMF style diets quite a bit - and surely increases the chance of results/success in as well as the adherence to a hardcore dietary approach like this.
