Is it ok to eat the same thing before and after a workout? Any suggestions?

45mins - 1 hour before Weight or HIIT workout and then again immediately following workout:

whey protein
1 cup skim milk
1 medium banana

305 cals/42 gr carbs/32gr protein

Then about 60-90 mins post workout I have either chicken/salmon/tuna and some veggies and a medium sweet potato.

I ate something very similar to that when i first started training, only it was post workout only. Um. It's still pretty good. You've got quality nutrient dense food your eating there. The insulin spike from the starchy banana and the dairy complement each other and while maybe not as effective as regular sugar, is still pretty great!

It really all depends on your overall plan (Muscle gain, fat loss, etc.) But what you are eating is a healthy, functional meal; And I think that sort of thing should be promoted. :tu:

Your plan is starting to look a lot like mine. :) I'd just increase the amounts post-workout.

Here's what I do currently, which may give you some ideas:

PREWORKOUT:
Whey + Oats (ground)

POSTWORKOUT:
Whey + Oats (ground) + Milk + Banana

Sorry I didn't include any amounts, but I don't know your stats, goals, etc.

So, generally speaking I think you're on the right track. I'd probably just bump the carbs post-workout. Toss some ground oats into your shake and you should be good.
