Yo, quad quys.
I' m debating about the balance between straight leg squats and deadlifts. I know that both are important, but whcih is best for bulking?
I'm not a novice, but I would like some advice from more experienced guys. Opinions are welcome! God I hate this shit!)

What is a straight leg squat? Do you have a video?
What do you hate? How long have you been lifting?:bb:

What is a straight leg squat?
I think that would be either a walkout or a good morning.
I think he meant it the other way around.
I wouldn't use straight leg deadlifts, stiff legged deadlifts (knees slightly bent) are preferred.
I normally have a pretty good balance between the weight I do for two leg squat sets and RDLs or SLDLs but I normally do more reps for the squat sets.
For single leg work, I do more reps on the Bulgarians than at the same weight on the single stiff legged deadlift but I top out at heavier weights on the single stiff legged deadlifts than I have done on Bulgarians.
Plus I have found throwing in front squats for decent volume has increased the bottom of my quads.
Another exercise I would recommend to round out the basic big leg exercises would be the natural glute ham raise (which is really a hamstring exercise).
Finally I will put in the good word for barbell step-ups. You can up the volume a lot more than the corresponding Bulgarian which has uses for hypertrophy as well as metabolism.
Now there are other things that you can get good work from - hack squats, sissy squats, pistols. There's a ton of great leg exercises.

I really appreciate the advice about the barbell step ups. I tried these today, and found pain that I didn' know was there. I guess that's good.
Your advice is appreciated.
