G'day people,
I'm amazed and overwhelmed with the wealth of information available on this forum I've stumbled across. It is great, but somewhat daunting for someone with little experience in this field.
Anyway, with such a wide variety of knowledge available, I thought I'd see if anyone was able to offer some friendly advice?
I'm late 20s male, weighing 86kg @ 183cm, carrying a bit an unreasonable amount of flab around my gut.
For the last 2 months I've been hitting the gym with a friend 3 times a week, doing different body parts each time.
I do cardio almost everyday, mostly in the mornings on an empty stomach.
I've dropped about 4 kg in just over 2 weeks by following a strict diet which has cut done my calorie intake dramatically.
I eat 2 eggs and a pice of fruit for breaky, a peice of fruit a few hours later. 2 avocado and cucumber sushi rolls or a can of tuna for lunch. Again fruit a few hours later, followed by dinner which is usually 200grams of lean meat and a cup of green vegies. Followed by another piece of fruit for dessert an hour or so later.
My aim is to cut down my body weight (fat %) and increase my muscle definition and size if possible - so I'm wondering if I'm doing much wrong. Where I can go better and any tips you all might have. I'm taking mult vits, and on advice from a friend am loading up on L-Glutamine most days and also taking protein/carb bars or drink supplements after weight training.
Please, tear my routine apart, or tell me what's good - you guys seem to know so much!

hey archie_78! welcome to JSF!

You NEED to read the stickies in the introduction forums about diet/nutrition. This is where it's at. Your diet will make or break your progress.

For starters, you are not getting nearly enough protein. Eat protein at EVERY meal. I'm sure you're kcals are too low.

Read the stickies, come back with a better meal plan and post it up here, and then we'll tear it apart..hehe :D

Ditto the above post. From the looks of it, your calories are way to low. While you will manage to drop scale weight, you'll basically lose muscle instead of maintaining it or even gaining a little.

Use the stickies above to find your appropriate calorie intake and rebuild a meal plan.

judging by your stats (~6', 189lbs), you may want to look into a clean bulk vs. trying to cut all that fat. especially being winter and all (assuming you're from the northern hemisphere) I would be more inclined to recommend working on building up some muscle and then cutting at the end of winter/beginning of spring.

If you decide to bulk, you may end up losing some fat in the process if you are able to keep the diet clean which it sounds like you already have the will power to do. i would look into it :)

also, since you didn't say it explicitly, I hope you are doing squats, deadlifts, pullups, and dips in your work outs. make sure you pay attention to those compound lifts as you will see a better ROI compared to isolation exercises (aka bicep curls).
