Currently I eat my last meal at work around 4-4:30, but I do not get to the gym until 6-6:30. Should I be eating a meal before doing my PM lifting? And if so, what should I be eating? A protein shake? Fats? Carbs?

My PM workout is lifting with 10 minutes of cardio to cool down at the end.

Thanks.

Try an apple. And a cup of coffee if you feel like you need one.

2 hours prior to working out isn't bad.

Personally I have never found a difference with eating a half hour before the workout, and 2 hours before the workout.

Just make sure you get the proper amount of carbs/protein pre and post workout.

Is your 4:30 meal your last meal of the day or just the last meal before your workout?

Defintintely not my last meal of the day. It's the last meal before my PM lifting. I always eat a meal high in protein and carbs post workout around 7:30 and sometimes a small protein shake or a handful of almonds around 9:30 if I'm feeling hungry before bed.

Just wanted to make sure. I think you'll be fine for now.

Everything sounds pretty good. I've heard many sources say you shouldn't eat 2 hrs before a workout...but I don't think it makes a difference if you have an apple or a banana 30 min or an hour before you go. Just dont make it 2 slices of pizza on your way to the gym and you'll be fine!!
