about me:
Height: 5'0- 5"1
weight:135ish
age: 19
Sex: female

So I am a freshman in college and basically I have to eat here. They serve stuff like chicken, pizza, salads, sub sandwhiches, cereal.....I plan on drinking diet dr pepper, and about 40 oz of water a day and sometimes green tea( I DON'T like water) I do plan on going to gym quite often and I also have a volleyball class, which helps a lil!

My goals: I plan to get down to at least 115 in a 2-3 month period.. Most of fat is on my thighs and lower part of my belly so I wanna lose it there.. MOSTLY...... I WANNA CUT FAST! I ALSO WANT LLILL ABS
now for the fun part, hehe. I don't have time to look at all the stickys, and what not so I needa to know what exercises would be good for me.. and how often I should do 'em! and what food would be good for me!

I'm sure that a lot of people here would be willing to help you out, but I'm not sure that it would be worth their time when you say things like "I don't have time to look at all the stickys" but you "want to cut fast" and "want abs now."

If you don't have the time or willingness to educate yourself a little up front, what makes you think you'll be able to follow any suggestion that we give you as far as working out or eating?

To be successful in this endeavor, it has to be a high priority. You have to plan meals, count calories, cook food, make an iron clad commitment to get to the gym... and you have to work HARD while you are there. And you have to do it over the long term. You can't be taking 3 or 4 days a week off just because it's the weekend, or it's raining, or you just want to hang out with friends.

If you are serious enough about your fitness goals to do this, I suggest you take the next week to read stuff on your own, just a little bit everyday, and then come back and try asking for help again. Come up with an eating and workout plan on your own first, and we'll gladly critique it and give you tips for getting started on it.

light lunch- wheat sandwhich with turkey, and a slice of pepper jack chesse, yogurt and fruit... small cup of diet dr pepper

heavy lunch-- chicken** if they serve it at the time**, wheat-turkey sandwhich, fruit, and a salad.......waterrrrr

dinner- chiken or pasta, sandwhich, soup ** w.e kind they have**, small salad, and fruit

also what are some good ideas for snacks????????!!!

I would recommend drinking more water, even if you don't like it. They make individual packets of flavored calorie-free powder to put in bottles of water. That might help.

And take the time to read the stickys. Print them out and read them while you are doing cardio.

Fitness is never a quick fix. It isn't about just going to the gym. You need to read the nutrition stickys. Food is fuel. The right amounts and types of food will help you more than the gym. You need to commit, do the things you need to do and take the time to learn as much as you can. If you are searching for a quick and easy way to get fit, you won't find it. You need to change that mindset. Being in shape isn't easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it.

Before I make many recommendations, I'd like to know a little more about your background.

First, go to http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html and find out what your body composition is like. Either do this tomorrow morning right after you wake up and go to the bathroom, or do it now and just subtract an inch from your waist measurement since you have probably eaten recently.

Second, tell me about your training background. Have you been playing sports for a while? Going to the gym regularly? What kind of exercise are you already comfortable with, and what are you greatest performance accomplishments (e.g. fastest mile time, heaviest lift, etc)?

For right now, though, I challenge you to lay off all beverages except water for the next 2 weeks and make sure you sleep 8 hours every night. Keep a log of how much water you drink and how much sleep you get everyday. This is the beginning of developing some will power and good habits, sort of preparing you for what is to come.

Glancing over what you've said so far....the one glaring problem I see is the Dr. Pepper.

Drink water....not pop. Even if it is diet.

Carbonated water is NEVER good for you, even if it supposedly contains zero calories.

And read the stickies....there is an absolute wealth of information there. In fact, read them everyday for the next month to memorize every single part.

DROP the Dr. Pepper also, you seem to be eating good and clean but a little high on calories, well you might be really athletic so, who knows, stickies, you cannot skip them

One glaring problem I see is laziness...congrats for making the effort to come here and ask for help, however, simply expecting it to be all laid out for you without any effort is not going to take you very far.

Unless you're willing to pay someone to formulate a plan for you I'm afraid you might be in trouble. Asking for help is one thing, but you will have to do most of the work on your on own, then get help tweaking.

The first thing you need to do is research. Then come up with a plan. Then post it to be critiqued.

This isn't necessarily a good thing. Obviously you can't be consistently going over your maintenance point and expect to lose weight, but the physique game isn't about who eats the least wins.

Well in that case...:)

You deserve credit for improving your overall dietary habits, and not just eating less. Meal timing/planning, food source cleanup, serving size control, etc. -- improvements in these areas will contribute towards achieving your goals.

Eat often...every 2 or 3 hours. Eat a big breakfast. Abs happen in the kitchen not the gym!
