Hi,

I have been wandering this site for quite some time. I am a male, 167 cms height, 188 pound weight. Waist is 37 inch. Age:36-1/2. I am the fat guy among our friends, and I get the first invitation to be the Santa Claus in our annual XMas party... No pun intended, but that is an insult to me... like everybody else in this forum, I also decided to get things straight....

I like food. I attack chicken wings like a wild animal. I am going to change that... and my huge challenge is coming - the New Years Eve blast. There will be drinks, lots of food (beef and pork) and chicken and....and....

I have started taking 6 small meals per day for the past 1 week or so, with XMas days as exception... But I do cut my portion of each intake carefully...

I have taken a snap of me yesterday, which I thought would post... but I think I would wait for another week...

I try to go to gym daily...

This is my routine:

Day 1: Eliptical High intensity - 30 mins (target : burn 250 cals)
Day 2: Eliptical High intensity - 15 minutes; Weight Training - 15 minutes.
Day 3: Day 1 repitition
Day 4: Eliptical High intensity - 15 minutes; Skipping for 15 minutes.
Day 5: Day 1 repitition

Will this work?

I am hoping to hear some advice from my forum friends.

Thanks a lot for all the motivation,
Rajeev

Welcome Rajeev.

I'll say first off, because everyone else will suggest it, is to go to the beginner's thread and read the stickies. Especially Gravityhomer's guide, and Marcus's guide.

Weight loss starts in the kitchen. Diet is a big part of the equation. But it looks like you have the right attitude and want to do something about it. That's key!

Thanks a lot Croz,

In fact I read through GravityHomers to get started initially.

This is my diet routine (am sorry I did not post this earlier):

Breakfast: Half-bowl cereal w/ 1% Fat Free Milk
Morning Coffee at work.
Snack: 1 Nutri Bar (140 cals)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (approx. 250 cals)
Snack: 1 Nutri Bar (140 cals)
Evening Tea at work (Black Tea)
Dinner: Two slices of wheat bread and some curry (could be chicken or vegetable)
During the day, I try to gulp in 4-5 cups of water.

As I said, I already started this and I am already feeling light throught out the day as opposed to feeling heavy at times and feeling starved at other times.

Thanks,
Rajeev

I would certainly say you need more water. 4-5 'cups' is about 40 ounces. You should strive for a gallon or so (128 ounces) each day.

Also, you need to do more weight training. 15 minutes 1x per week is not enough. Cardio may help you lose weight, but if you build muscle, you will raise your metabolism, making your body less likely to store fat since you need more calories just to maintain your muscle. Plus, thin people without a lot of muscle on their frame tend to look "skinny-fat," or like smaller versions of their fat selves.

Diet needs some serious attention in the way of improved quality of food sources and quantities. Almost every meal looks like a light snack.

Make sure your diet is about fat loss over weight loss for the purposes of improved body composition. Anyone can slash calories and get the scale to go down.

Up your protein sources, learn about healthy fats, eat more vegetables.
