I ran into a gentleman forom my gym who has been on some very different diet for awhile. He says it eliminates mood swings and energy swings by keeping your insulin low enough to burn fat, keep muscle, and kep something going called "glucosin".

He avoids all processed sugar, stating that even salt these days has sugar added to it!

In addition he avoids all starches, finding breads with very little sugar added to them and eating fruit only with fat or carbs, yams are ok for starches.

I realy want to try this but it takes 24 hours for your insulin spike to go down from caffiene/sugar/fake sugar but after that the practical parts of it I imagine, and the time in executing this with a fulltime job during the week seems like a huge challenge.

Any thoughts?

Umm, this is nothing new or revolutionary....actually, sounds like he is complicating a very simple and well known concept. Not so sure about his theories on food partitioning. Fruit with fat or carb??? Sounds like a hack to me...Read the stickies and educate yourself a bit more about nutrition...

It's amazing the kind of success you can see with a diet like that. But being ultra strict makes it difficult to find anything to eat. I won't eat a cookie, but I'll eat sweet and spicy tuna with 3g regular old sugar per serving. In many cases, I'll take a couple grams of sugar over aspartame. I'm still seeing success for now, so I'll keep doing what I'm doing so long as it works :)

It really comes down to how dedicated you are. That guy sounds "competition" strict. I'm just "healthy lifestyle" strict.

I agree, nothing revolutionary there, it sounds quite similar to the diets many people (including myself) follow around here. Read the beginners stickys for lots of good info, and keep in mind its not just what you eat, but how much. ie. 5g of sugar will effect your blood sugar level less then 60g carbs from sweet potatoes. Fruit, although sugar, doesn't have nearly as much of an impact on blood sugar as a single piece of bread, and most people eat 2 pieces of bread at a time. Sure different fruits are different, but I belive pretty much any fruit is better then a single piece of any bread.

Also keep in mind your not 2 weeks out from a bodybuilding competition, so keep it reasonable. No point in setting up the worlds most perfect diet for yourself if you can't realisticly follow it. 100% of 75% is better then 50% of 100%.
