I really like the gym but sometimes...i want to burn that ***** ****** down :bang:. Today i was working on my biceps it was all going good and Guns and Roses were playing on the radio. Untill some smart *ss turned on smooth jazz....now dont get me wrong i got nothing against smooth jazz....but when i'm trying to get into shape ..WOW. I didn't come there
to sleep on the bench press I went there to workout:bb:. Now if you think that's bad .....somehow smooth jazz got changed and ..guess what was playing next lol. Britney Spears....(I said to my self this is awsome lol). I started to laugh...not because it was funny but because i think i went slightly mad . I looked around and everyone els were listening to there mp3 player. Soo ...instead of wanting to stay a bit more in the gym like always. I was rushing to finish my workout routine. Ok i got this cr*p of my sholders...feels better to share my anger lol.

P.s I just needed to let it out :D.

DUDE! (high fives) I am not the only one that gets driven nuts by the retarded music in gyms. I mean when I'm gettin' ready to d-bell press 90's per hand and "Outragious" by Britney Spears comes on...it can throw you off your game slightly. I know, I've been there. Sadly enough our gym played the SAME damn cd all day long so we had to listen to the same crap at the same time everyday. Oh man, a guy I trained with and myself would disconnect all the speakers in the gym so we didn't have to listen to it. We complained everyday about and everyday they ignored us (the gym was downstairs, the reception was upstairs so they didn't have to hear....bastards). mp3 players are simply the best known gym accessory to man, use it wisely!

The Gym I go to (Gold's) plays some sort of XM radio all day. It's not XM or Sirius, because I asked, but it's one of those kinds of services. It's set to a rock type station, so there's a steady stream of the same kind of music all day.

Tricky. Different people are motivated by different things; that's why it's best to have your own music source. A group of people in a spinning class would definitely want something different than someone who's training for a marathon, different from someone who's training for maximum strength. I listen to very different music depending on what kind of workout I have planned, and how my day has gone so far, so I wouldn't want to be limited by what's played over the sound system.

I totally see where your coming from. But in our case all the classes like that and cardio were upstairs with different music...and listening to the same cd over and over and over again. I am a patient man, but when I hear Outragious by Britney Spears a few times in a training session and everyday for months on end it tends to make you go slightly loco (only reasons for the minus of an mp3 player at the time..reason 1:training with someone reason 2: too damn broke to afford one at the time, lol) So drastic measures had to be made to ensure gym staff weren't taken hostage over the situation. LOL, each weekend they would reconnect the speakers and each Monday we would disconnect them.

I'm in charge of the music at the gym. There is NOTHING that you can do to please everyone. Our older members prefer classic rock. The younger members prefer current hits (mostly hip-hop). The hardcore lifters want hard rock. And the cardio bunnies want dance pop. We try to accomodate everyone's taste, but it's impossible. And for added torture, try picking the movies for the cardio cinema room.

I don't really pay much attention to the music on the sound system, since I spend most of my time focusing on my workout. Simple solution is to get an mp3 player if it really bothers you.:tucool:

It's actually called DMX (http://www.dmx.com/what-we-do/services/music.aspx), and it's specifically designed for gyms, bars, and retail establishments.

I WILL probably show 9 1/2 Weeks at some point. R-rated movies are fine. I've already shown stuff like Body Double and Wild Things, and no one complained. I also scheduled Borat last week to no ill effect.

Yes! That's the one! I knew there was a D and an X, but I'd forgotten what it was, and forgot it was an acronym as well. I like the channel that our gym is set to.
