Does anyone know where to find some inexpensive (not cheap... inexpensive) Olympic-sized dumbbell handles online? I can't believe how much they cost! The cheapest set I found was on Ebay for $50, but that's still more than I really want to pay for some exaggerated steel tubing. Also, is there a reason these things cost so much?

They cost so much because they are olympic dumbbell handles. Most people use standard dumbbell handles instead. The standard db handles are about $20 cheaper.

I had a pair that I sold on ebay about 2 months ago. I actually hated them. They are very long awkward. I am used to the ones the gym had so I couldnt use them. I have since bought hex db's. This is the closest to what the gym uses.
You can buy a cheap pair from walmart. My local one sells a set with 2 olympic db handles and a olympic curl bar for $30-35. Its made by Golds gym.

I have seen them at Sports Authority for about $20. If there isn't one near you, go to www.TheSportsAuthority.com.

Also, you could go to Home Depot or the like and buy 1.5" steel piping at about 1.5' to 2' and make your own! I used hose clamps as the weight stops and it works great. The only difference is the grip is larger than an Olympic bar.
