View Full Version : Too much musclemass
Xagmar November 15th, 2007, 10:26 AM This may seem a little strange to most of you, but i consider myself to be too bulky...
I don't have much fat on my body ( I can see my abs) but i really WANT to loose muscle!
Anyone knows how I could do it? How do I need to eat different and train different?
I have been working out for 1.5 years and this is what I did:
Warming up 5 min
Resistance training 8 reps 3 sets per body part
HIIT (4 minutes warming up, and then 4x 1 minute sprint, 2 minutes rest
cooling down
I do this 3 times a week
Eating pattern: 5 meals a day, and somethimes some sweets :P
Well I want to loose muscle but, if I'm ready with loosing muscle I do not want my fat percentage to go up..
Please some advice
Many thanks
Vincent
KT Monahan November 15th, 2007, 10:44 AM Maybe longer endurance cardio? Start a running program. Lower weights and higher reps? Maybe cool off on the weights for a few weeks and just do cardio? Not sure exactly.
Gorilla November 15th, 2007, 11:10 AM Could always start a mini cut, nothing too drastic. Then base your workout around alot of high rep work with dumbells and cables...
bernlin2000 November 15th, 2007, 12:31 PM I wish I was in your "unfortunate" position ;). Deemphasizing weights and doing more cardio will probably do the trick. How many calories are you taking in? Maybe think about reducing how many you're eating. However, you said you could see your abs, do you know your body fat %? Some people are bigger boned than others, so not everyone can be like a rail (I wish...)
Big_D November 15th, 2007, 01:18 PM  How big are you?

Exactly. Where do you want to loose muscle? All over or certain body areas?
What are your stats in the way of height, weight, and current BF%?
Xagmar November 15th, 2007, 04:06 PM I want to loose muscle especially in the arms and neck, so would it help if I don't do resistance training for my arms and neck and a little for the rest or something like that? Or would it be better if I didn't touch the weights at all?
JoeSchmo November 15th, 2007, 04:29 PM It probably isn't muscle you need to lose....but most likely fat. Once you are down to around 10% bf, you will probably find that most of your bulk is gone, and that you no longer need to lose "muscle" mass.
goonie November 15th, 2007, 09:04 PM List the training details (exercises, sets, reps, and resistance being used) for your neck and arms.
I'm of the thinking it's probably not really muscle you need to lose until we see pictures proving otherwise.
Gorilla November 15th, 2007, 09:35 PM I agree. I think he just needs to get more cut and defined. Once that happens, he will be more than happy with his muscle mass...

Weights are the most effective exercise for all parts of your body. What are your measurements and weight, if pictures aren't available? How many calories do you consume a day? Diet is probally problem.
What exercises and amount of weight do you use for neck and arms?
