Well, since my fitness transformation hasn't been worth documenting yet, I thought I'd share something else that's taken up a lot of my time.
Here are the results of what I lovingly called in my journal, "The Bathroom Project from Hell." It was one of those projects where it seemed that everything you did uncovered 2 more things that needed to be done.
We bought this house from a woman who was running it as a boarding house for, shall we say, certain fans of John Travolta, Tom Cruise and Kirstie Alley. It was horribly unmaintained, and we've been taking it room by room. The second bathroom looked like this when we bought the house:

Before we moved in, I removed the disgusting shower doors and replaced the sink, which had rusted through. But there was still much to be done. The grout had been filthy so long, it was permanently stained. And the vinyl flooring had 2 seams hidden behind the toilet. I don't have to tell you how those looked.
So here's the total list of what we did (doing all the work ourselves):
Re-grouted the bathtub/shower area
Replaced the shower neck, shower head, faucet, control valve and trap
Removed all the existing flooring and trim
Removed the existing vanity light and patched the holes
Replaced the medicine cabinet
Removed the traditional towel bar since we needed something that could handle the towels for 3 boys
Replaced the toilet
Installed a ceramic tile floor (my first time doing that)
Installed new trim
Installed new lighting
Replaced the hardware on the vanity
Built the new towel shelf
Trimmed out the large mirror
Trimmed out the window
Painted everythingThe final results are below:

The plan for this bath is that when we put our pool in, that window will be replaced by a door and this will be the bathroom accessible from the pool area. That's why there are 8 towel hooks.
The mirror was my wife's idea. Rather than replace the large, plain mirror that was there, we trimmed it out with trim and liquid nails mirror adhesive. We both thought she was being very clever, then we found there are companies that sell kits to do exactly that.
