hey guys i did some browsing on new gym equipment and i need help to pick out the better one. Recently i went to Costco and saw a Gold's Gym Gr 7000 and it was going for about $899 canadian with all the weights included. But i also saw a Marcy Diamond Elite going for the same price and weights are included as well. One of my buddies told me to look at a GRANITE 2 CABLE MOTION gym and it comes with 150 pounds plus you can add an additional 50 pounds to it, and the total for this equipment is $1388. So can anyone give me some advice and help me out to pick out the better equipment

I'd also like to know what the difference is between linear bearing and linear bushings?[

Thanks in advance

If anyone could please help or give me some advice that would be greatly appreciated. I hope to buy a home gym within two weeks, because i want to start working out as soon as possible.
Any info on the Gold gym smith machine would be good, since its more appealing to me than the other gym equipment.
If anyone has one like the one there selling at costco could tell me how they like it so far, and are the results good?

Thanks

That machine is not made too well. For just a few bucks more, you can get a Parabody Smith or a Hoist machine and it would last you a lifetime. $899 is too much for a Golds brand machine.

Why are you in such a hurry? Do some more research before just running out and making such a large purchase.

What are your workout goals? This would help determine the type of equipment you need. There are other manufacturers out there with quality equipment (Powertec, Parabody, Hoist, Hammer Strength, Body Solid) that you could try.

What exactly isn't made well?
I am not saying you are wrong, I would just like to know what to look for when buying equipment.

I'd like to know what you are looking at when you say its not made well.
thanks! :tucool:

a bushing is a type of bearing - it's solid and usually made from a bronze or copper alloy and may also be impregnated with oil - they generally have a higher coefficient of friction than roller or ball bearings

Dave, I agree with one of the other posts - before you rush out and buy a gym you may want to try a few other options. Is there certain goals you have in mind? What sort of training are you doing right now? Do you have any space limitations?
