Greetings...I have been watching this site off and on for the past couple of years, but I have finally starting getting serious about losing weight and getting in shape. I just recently turned 40 and when I weighed in at my annual physical in June, I was over 300 pounds. It was a wake up call and I have started working. I weighed in this morning at 276.5. It hasn't been easy, but I have also been motivated by becoming the Scout Master for my son's Scout Troop. Every week part of our oath is to keep ourselves physically strong and I felt like a liar every time I said it. Now that I am getting things back on track, I want to add weight training to my daily walk. I have been digesting all of the beginner's advice here and around the web and will likely start to ask some dumb questions in the coming weeks. My son has a little gym set up in the house, we have a dip tower, a Smith machine weight bench, an eliptical machine and a tread climber. Soon I hope to be using all of it on a regular basis.
I look forward to joining you all in this process.
Jay
