I've been lifting like a complete newb for the past 6 months. I've seen some decent gains. Should I go straight to the Bill Starr routine, or would I be better off buying "Starting Strength"? I really want to start an actual program rather than this random junk I've been doing, but I'm kind of confused on what I should do.

What are your goals and where do you stand with respect to them?

I'd start with Starting Strength where you increase the weight each workout and once you've stalled, reset and stalled again I would move on to Bill Starr's 5x5 where you increase once a week.

I want to bulk and bulk and bulk until I get to the point of "periodization", then cut until I'm fairly ripped, then go back to bulking :)
As far as where I stand - I'm at 5'7", 157 lbs, somewhere around 12-15% bf
Might as well go with ripptoe, I guess, eh? Can't hurt.
