Hi Everybody.
I Have Been Working Out For Almost 2 Months Without A Pause Now. I Weight Train And Do Cardio As Well.
Last Week, I Was Doing Cardio Only - 6 Times Very Hight Intensity (hiit) And Every Time For At Least 35 - 40 Minutes.
Last Saturday, When I Was Finished, My Heart Rate Did Not Go Down, It Went Up Even More, My Head Started Spinning, I Felt Very Bad, And My Hr Was Up For At Least Another 40 Minutes, Including Me Feeling Weird. Since Then, I Only Trained On Monday And Today. I Had No Problem On Monday. But Today, When I Was Almost Done With My Weight Training (i Did Not Even Plan To Do Cardio) I Felt Something Similar As On Saturday. Not So Intense Though, But It Scared The Hell Out Of Me, So I Rushed From The Gym And Was Trying To Calm Down Outside. My Hr Was Elevated For Like 15-20 Minutes Today. This Time, My Head Was Not Spinning And I Did Not Feel As Bed.

Is This Over Training? What Should I Do? Please Help.

Thanks.

Go see a doctor, dude. If that happened to me, I'd be pretty freaked.

Does sound like your going wayyy overboard on the HIIT, though. Why no lifting? Keep that up and you'll look like a long distance runner/skeleton.

That is interesting -- The same thing happens to my mother. Her heartrate just shoots up to insanely high numbers (~180 bpm), and stays that way for a long time (20-30 minutes). It only happened when she was very tired or engaged in lengthy physical exertion. Turned out she had an electrical problem with her heart, and now takes medication.

If yours is severe like that, then definitely see a doctor about it. But, chronically elevated heartrate can be a sign of overtraining. Either way, take a week off. You'll feel better for it.

Overtraining is not going along with your workout, feeling fine, and then suddently having your heart race out of control, head spinning, and needing to calm yourself down the way you described. Exercise induced panic attack maybe.

You might be pushing the cardio a little hard, but I get the sense there's much more going on. See a doctor.

It sounds like you bonked. When you say heart rate went up after you finished, that's OK, that can happen because your legs were helping pump the blood while you were exercising and when you stop your heart has to pick up the slack. The question is how fast the heart rate recovers. When you say "up for at least another 40 minutes" the question is how high is that up?

What you describe could be pretty normal, although not something you want to do a lot, or it could be dangerous. A lot of this depends on what sort of condition you are in and what was the intensity of the workout. There are lots of ways to do HIIT; some more intense than others (there are some that you could not actually do for 40 minutes).
