What's your favorite compound exercise? What have you seen to be most effective?

DEADS HANDS DOWN! There's nothing like ripping heavy weight off the floor. The benefits go beyond the gym, you never know when you might have to pull the rear end of a car out of the mud. ;)

The deadlift. It is just so wonderfully rudimentary and satisfying. :)

I'd have to agree with the deadlift, but something about the squat makes me feel really strong. It's one of those exercises that when it tests you, you feel stronger in the end.

Hardest and most dangerous? Standing on a plyo box snatches, those are terrible. Most fun? Squat.

Personally, i get bored of a specific lift after awhile. But whatever lift i'm concentrating on its always a squat, deadlift or clean varation - Power clean and push press for example.

Today's workout was one of the occasional barbell improvisation workouts with a few trainers, and included some of my favorite compounds:

Clean and push press for maximum speed: 12x135#

Hang clean and push press for even faster speed: 12x135#

Burpee with barbell clean and press: (5, 6)x135#

Alternating forward and reverse lunges, alternating legs: 2x14x135#

The beast: 3x135# (this was a demonstration so Mike O could see these)

Barbell jump lunges: 2x14x135#

Single stiff leg barbell deadlift on inverted bosu: 2x6x185#

Romanian deadlift for speed (Oly style): 3x12x275#

Aye. Easy to underestimate just how beneficial the unilateral leg work is.

i just recently started training but i absolutely love doing the one armed clean-n-jerks. i normally do them until failure and it feels like an awesome cardio workout along with complete weight training workout at the same time.
