Guys,

If you have an Aldi near you, I just got 2.25kgs of chicken breast for £9. Just a head's up. :)

Thanks for the info Foley.

Is it frozen or fresh?

Maybe we should start an ongoing thread for cheap sources of chicken/tuna/eggs/whey etc in the UK?

My top tip is: Tesco Value Tuna Chunks in Brine

29p a can
Net weight 185g
Drained weight 129g
30.3g of protein per can
0.96p per gram of pure protein
£9.60 per kg of pure protein

That is even cheaper than the cheapest unflavoured whey protein that is available in the UK.

Eg. Bulkpowers.co.uk sells "Whey Protein Concentrate 80%" is £9.49 a Kg but is only 82% protein.
So it costs £11.57 per kg of pure protein and you have to pay p&p.

i only wish I liked tuna more!

I love tuna! Sainsburys is obviously a rip off then, as they do double that for more than double that price. Checkin that one out soon! :)

Does anyone know how thes prices compare to those "across the pond" in the US?

I expect they are quite a bit cheaper over there?

I see Sainsbury's are now doing a 4kg bag of rice for £1.89.

One of the best buys I saw this week was in a Countrywide store (formely West Midland Farmers) where a sack (not sure of the weight but it pretty darn big) of baking potatoes for £7.

That is amazingly cheap, I'm so jealous!

I guess things are just cheaper the further you get away from London.

I'm struggling to find broccoli at the moment. All the supermarkets seem to not have any. I don't know if there is less supply than the demand...
