Hey Everyone,

Here is my diet...well todays diet, please let me know what you think. I am in a cuttign phase and stick relatively close to this:

7:30am - whey in water
10:00am - 1 banana, 2 meatless sausage patties
12:30pm - 1 meatless riblet
3:00pm - 1 fat free hot dog in light hod dog roll
5:00pm - 1/2 cup skim milk w/ 1 cup kashi good friends cinamon
7:30pm - 2 cups egg beaters w/1 meatless sausage patty

Totals: 1588 calories, 22g from fat, 166g from carbs, 186g from protein
47% protein, 41% carbs, 12% fat

I don't eat pork, but I am not a vegetarian, I just like a lot of veggie food!

This is my basic diet switched around with chicken and veggies for dinner sometimes or tuna for lunch.

Does this look ok for a cutting diet?

doesnt sound to my likeing, but if its what you like, go for it.

The Calories look a little on the low side. So unless your around 140-150lbs. You might want to up the calories a little or else you will burn off a bunch of lean mass.

we need to see your stats.

This is my first week back on a diet in about 3 months - I took a nice BAD break for the holidays and it was the worse thing I could do...put on like 25lbs (but I did grow 2 inches?).

Anyhow, I am 5'9 (maybe 5'10), I weigh 199 currently and my bf is around 21% - I am still learning how to measure it more accurately.

For now I do HIIT cardio 7 days a week (I just like being active) and I lift 3 days a week (and do abs twice a week on non training days).

Mon. Tris/Bis
wed. chest/back
fri. legs/shoulders

My work outs are quick and at night - I run or do cardio first thing in the am. I don't have a ton of time because I work close to 90 hours a week most of the time - I work fulltime and also have my own business fulltime.

I forgot to mention I also take extra fiber and a multivitamin and drink only water. I also drink whey in water with lunch and with dinner...

First of all, 1588 calories a day at 199lbs. is too low even when cutting. You should be taking in almost 2000 calories a day, minimum in order to minimize muscle loss.

Second of all, you need to consume more fat (that is, unsaturated fat).

Third of all, you could stand to add some protein as well. Remember to get at least 1g per pound (i.e. what you weigh) a day. This means you should be eating approx. 199g of protein a day.

Fourth, what's your sodium intake like? I don't know about meatless sausage/hot dogs, but the "real" versions of those foods are loaded with sodium, which causes you to become dehydrated while the sodium in your body retains a lot of water.

Finally, how much water do you drink on any given day?

I am losing fat, not cutting, my mistake... I will be cutting once I get to a better bf%.

What are some good foods that are low in carbs, high in protein and dont have a ton of fat? I did notice my fat intake is too low.

My sodium intake is pretty good. I don't know the exacts, wont know until I get home tonight, but I think I am ok on that.

I drink about 1.5 gallons of water a day...

Ok, let's see...

First of all, you've gotta get down with the body building vernacular! ;) "Cutting" means "losing fat." Sorry for the miscommunication. :)

Now then, high protein/low carb foods include (but are not limited to):
-Boneless, skinless chicken breast
-Tuna
-Salmon
-Steamed shrimp

(note: there's plenty more, but these happen to be some of the more readily available sources...and I really like salmon).

For fat, I highly recommend Extra Virgin Olive Oil (which you can mix with most anything) and/or Natural Peanutbutter (which has a few more calories including protein as an added bonus). Also, Walnuts are a good source of fat/protein as well as Almonds (but not to as great an extent as walnuts). These are all good sources for unsaturated fat (which is exactly what you need to keep your body healthy and strong, particularly while you're cutting calories).

As far as sodium goes, just keep an eye on it. When conciously dieting, deitary sodium (that is, sodium existing naturally in foods) isn't too much of an issue. When you eat more processed foods or add salt to your foods, then it can become a problem along the lines of what I previously mentioned.

You water intake is good. You can stand to add more if you are experiencing hunger pangs, but 1.5 gallons a day is certainly good.
