View Full Version : what is the most technically difficult exercise you've done?
guano~~ Mon, October 8th, 2007, 09:37 PM Front squats for me. I feel very uncomfortable throughout the exercise, particularly taking my 3 steps back from the rack. I almost fell the first time I tried front squats which scared the hell out of me, so that probably has something to do with it. I keep doing them though because I really feel it when I'm done.
What exercise is the most technically difficult for you?
Pete5 Mon, October 8th, 2007, 09:50 PM Snatch, I pretty much gave up on that.
Hockey4 Mon, October 8th, 2007, 09:57 PM The clean and jerk. I haven't attempted the snatch yet!

The jerk is fairly easy. The clean is another couple notches up the ladder in terms of difficulty. Then comes the snatch on a whole different level. Good luck.

I can actually do a proper clean and jerk oddly enough. Although admittedly I've never gone really heavy, so maybe that doesn't count. I mostly do it for for sets of 20+, and it doubles for cardio. Never tried a snatch though, to be totally honest not really sure what it is. I'll Google it.:)
HevyMetal Mon, October 8th, 2007, 10:09 PM Just about any Gymnast ex that includes Rings or balancing moves.
chicanerous Mon, October 8th, 2007, 10:09 PM I'm still working on the form for just the power variants of the clean and the snatch. My footwork is bad on the split jerk too. :blank:
Big_D Mon, October 8th, 2007, 10:10 PM Full snatch, pretty tough.
zenpharaohs Mon, October 8th, 2007, 10:25 PM Of the exercises that I have done, there are a few that are really tricky. Here are some of them:
Single leg barbell clean
Standing military press on single leg
Clean on inverted bosu
Lunge with front foot on exercise ball
Single stiff leg deadlift with dumbell curl and press on inverted bosu
Lunge deadlift on two inverted bosus
Lunge with twist and dumbell press on two bosus
I haven't tried barbell snatches of any significance so that might be trickier.

Honestly,it took me years to squat correctly.
Foley Tue, October 9th, 2007, 11:10 AM For me its the Romanian Deadlift, and I still can't activate by hamstrings as much as I would like! :(
Buster Tue, October 9th, 2007, 11:18 AM I found front squats, hang cleans and RDLs quite easy to get to grips with, but the hang snatch really screwed me over. I was trying to nail the form for 4 weeks but never really got it right. Maybe I don't have the core strength yet to perform it correctly?

If you can do jerks or overhead presses then that's probably not the problem.
bradh Tue, October 9th, 2007, 06:06 PM Single legged DB RDL's, using one DB.
MannishBoy Tue, October 9th, 2007, 06:52 PM Either cleans or overhead squats.
George Tue, October 9th, 2007, 07:20 PM snatch [...] I'll Google it.:)
 Be sure not to do this at work.
Either cleans or overhead squats.
Yeah, overhead squats bring the suck more than anything else I've tried.
