Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and couldnt be happier with the content.

I want to know what to eat before a morning workout and afterwards.

also... in the case where i get out of work and decide to go to the gym, i should eat something so i don't pass out in the gym and have energy, then I would come out of the Gym and have dinner.

Please keep in mind i am in a low card diet so i don't want anything high on carbs which would spoil my diet.

thanks for the info!!!

well, the only suggestion I have would "spoil your diet," but I'll post it anyway.

Define "spoiling" your diet for us. We don't know what that means. It would be helpful to see a complete example day from your diet, along with any set macro limits, your body stats, goals, training overview, etc. Making a recommendation without this info is really difficult.

Do you have a carb total in mind for the day that you try to stay under? The time surrounding your workout (both before and after) would be a good place to center most of whatever carbs you are eating, especially starches. Protein should stay mostly consistent throughout the day.

Don't get too caught up in pre/post workout nutrition. Make sure you have the big picture covered first. Eat so you can perform your best in the gym, while achieving whatever weight management goals you've set for yourself.

Are you on a low-carb diet because of Diabetes?

Actually...for a morning workout you could have eggwhites+ a slow-burn low-Glycemic index carb about an hour before you workout.

And then straight after the workout have a Whey Shake.

Mixed in water. Or....you can mix it in milk if you like.

Some people, like me, will use Dex/Fructose in the "right-after shake".

But there are others on this site who are now using Waxy Maize.

Waxy Maize has all the benefits of a good carb without giving you the insulin spike so I'm told.

Mastover is using it currently I believe.

Around here, I'm still looking for a place that sells it ( Pacific Northwest).

If you're trying to lift low carb, I personally do BCAA/whey protein during the workout then immediately afterward (with creatine added in the PWO). Then 30-60 minutes later switch back to P+F. This is actually pretty effective energy wise and allows for good recovery for me. Plus I don't get the carb crashes an hour or so later like I would get with dex/maltodextrin.

This is with a 30 g per day carb-fiber total. But I also do massive carbs on the weekends (anabolic diet). I don't recommend going to 30 g net carbs if you're not doing carb ups, but I can hover in the 70-120 g range for quite some time without the big carb ups and still lift pretty well and train hard.

Hey guys,

thanks for the advice.

Im in a Low Card Diet because i weight 210 and only measure 5-9.

As you can see i'm overweight for about 45 Lbs or so.

My diet consists of Scrambled egg whites with some turkey ham for breakfast

turkey patties with spinach or tuna with salad for lunch

and for dinner chicken beasts or burger patties with salad or vegetables or spinach ...

things like that, i havent perfected my diet yet.

I do Cardio 4 times a week and lift 3-5 times a week.

What do you guys think?
