I have never been able to do an press ups untill recently, about 7 years ago i broke my right colar bone, an ive never had much strenght supporting my body weight, in the pushup position,
but since ive been going to the gym last 2 -3 months just doing weights with a friend,
the past few days i have tried some push up's again an silly as it sounds i can get to about 10 full push ups (right down right up) then i fell like im about to die or i can do about 20 short up short down
are there any excises that i can do that will strengthen me so that i find it easier to do more push ups.?

in my experience bench press has helped ...But to do more push ups just gradually increase the push up number..and you will get better and stronger at them...over the course of a few months i went from barely one to been able to do 50. ..basically practice makes perfect.

Pushups are based on muscle endurance....a rowing machine might help....even though its a pull exercise.
I just do more.

Hah - I was like you - I couldn't do even a single full one about 3 or 4 months ago.. then I started doing weight training 3 to 5 times a week. Now I can do three or four sets of 40! That includes all the way down touching your chest to the ground and all the way back up, and keeping the body completely straight.
I'd say I noticed a correlation between the number of push-ups I could do to the amount of weight I could do with both seated dips and bench press.
Ultimately, the secret is CONSISTENCY. Meaning not stopping going to the gym.. and the secret to THAT in my experience is the "day at a time" approach. Don't think of having to go to the gym for the next month, but rather just worry about getting there TODAY. You do this every day and it makes it easy to get through a month of gym. After a while you get in the habit and it becomes like cruise-control where you aren't even bothered anymore by the monotony that the gym can sometimes be (the way I used to be, anyway).
Good luck.

Pushups, for one.
Almost any sensible upper body training will help with pushups. But if you want to increase pushups then focusing on big compounds will get the most improvement.

Just do lots of pushups. When I started, 10 knuckle pushups was a killer for me. Now I bust out 25 at a time on a regular basis. I really want a big upper body :)
If you want to do something better or more easily, just keep doing it.
