Hey guys,

I'm starting to raise my calories (1500 to about 1650) after losing about 80 lbs. to my target weight: 159 lbs. I added 150 calories per day by taking Creatine with a insulin spike for a full week. (150 Cal, 0 fat, 32g carb(sugar), 0 protein) I will also note now that my macros are 19f/39c/44p.

According to BMR (I figure 2300 to maintain using harris-benedict) I should still be losing weight, but this week I am trending slightly up to dead even. My calipers are showing no increase in fat. I am wondering if this has anything to do with Creatine Monohydrate causing water retention in some people? Or is the sugar in the spike giving me troubles, noting that that one serving is accounting for more than half of my daily sugar intake?

Any help will be appreciated, I am struggling with the idea that after all these months what the scale says no longer really matters, it's the myo-tape and calipers that count.

Creatine will cause an increase in water weight to some degree. It should also help you to increase your lean muscle mass and I suspect that is what you are experiencing. Creatine is GREAT to use when trying to lose body fat because it helps to spare or build lean muscle tissue and that is integral to the optimal loss of body fat.
