DB Front squats and dumbbell pullover. I have a routine right now that wants me to do as many reps as i can in one Set. And it says to do Squats so ive been doing Front Squats the thing is i have 35lbers and i can like 25-30reps with them. When the Workout wants me to do like 8-12reps. I could get bigger weights but I would have trouble just carrying them out of the store. So I was wondering if anybody has any alternatives to Front Squats that can be more DB friendly.

And also my routine also tells me to do Dumbbell Pullovers the thing is the palm of my left hand hurts alot whenever i start doing these. Not sure if im holding it retarded or what but any help would be great.

In place of the front squats, try one-legged dumbell squats (aka Bulgarians) - http://health.yahoo.com/media/mens-health/image/0606_bulgarian_200x200.jpg

You can also throw in some lunges.

Just do a split squat until you can improve your balance, then progress to bulgarians.

Can you explain how you're doing them? We don't know if you're holding it wrong or not without, well, knowing how you're holding it. :)

Have you suffered an injury to your left hand before?

You could always do barbell pullovers. I don't like them as much as a dumbbell version but it might work for you.

Agreed Mannish. Optheta: in other words, do the bulgarians but don't elevate the back foot. Leave it on the ground behind you. It's kind of like a stationary lunge I guess.

It's well worth working on that. Just use less weight until you can do them. Usually it doesn't that that long. And, the other benefit is that if you have bad balance, it's worth working on your balance.

Agreed. I fell over the first few times I tried them. You'll adjust in no time.

Also could a reason me not being able to balance is that the Bench is to low?

I would think that would make things easier.

Try different heights and see. Everyone has different mechanics.
