View Full Version : Some pics...Do you see any progress??
znewton1 September 30th, 2007, 09:42 PM Hey Guys,
I never really saw myself posting up pics here but I figured it's worth a shot. I found this site a year ago, and really got serious about losing weight and getting fit in early august. Right now I'd say I am about 80% dedicated to my diet and staying on track, but part of me still doesn't eat PERFECT every day for example. I am a college student so I do go out on fri and sat and drink a few beers with my budddies.
I started out at 175 in early august. I've been taking in on average about 1800 cals a day, tons of water, have not been using any protein yet but my recent order of Nitrean (thanks John) is coming tomorrow so I will be starting that. My weight this morning was about 162. I do not feel as though I've lost 13lbs, maybe more muscle than fat, but than again I'm very hard on myself, and just wanna get down to like 14%BF or less.
Sorry about the pics, firs tis with a digital camera, 2nd is with my cell

jkugelman September 30th, 2007, 10:13 PM  Absolutely. If you hadn't said anything I would've guessed you'd lost 20 pounds or so. Your progress is really noticeable. Keep it up!
znewton1 September 30th, 2007, 11:34 PM Thanks for the comment. Thing is though I don't see that big of a difference in the face or anything, but people are noticing the weight loss so I'll continue what I'm doin :)
Here's where my dillema or issue is at. I'm at 160 right now. I was 175 before this. I've never been bult with lots of muscle, but I want to at least get "cut" before this Christmas. Being that many other people at 160, have way less fat than me and MUCH more muscle. Does this mean my ideal body weight is around 145 in order to maintain low bf %??
mattback October 1st, 2007, 02:04 AM hey goofball how old are you and how tall are you ?
znewton1 October 1st, 2007, 02:40 AM I'm 20, and I'm about 5'9
mattback October 1st, 2007, 02:55 AM ah, so basically same exact size as me.
yeah you will have to cut down to be crack head thin if you really want to get ripped, if youre missing that much muscle.
concentrate on the big lifts, high intesnsity, heavy weight stuff. do cardio twice a week. eat at your bodyweight x12. you'll get there.
znewton1 October 1st, 2007, 10:55 AM I've been doing cardio like 5x a week..you think that's too much??
POLOGREEN October 1st, 2007, 01:12 PM Don't go halfway and expect any progress. Stop the "few" beers and eat "clean". 5 days a week cardio? HIIT or LISS ? and what are you doing for muscle mass?

I know I should stop the "few beers" if I really wanna see progress but it's not as easy as it sounds. I am a student going to college in SANTA BARBARA. On Fri, sat nights thats what kids here do, and honestly I enjoy doing that. I limit my intake though and don't have 10 drinks as many other kids do, and might have 3-4 bud lights. i know that is holding me back but how much?
Recently I've been doing 16 minute HIIT about 4x a week. This is on the stationary bike, alterning 1 min rest, 1 minute almost all out (gets my HR up to about 185. is that too much?
As for weights, at my apartment complex we have a very limited gym. There is a mchine to do lat pulldowns, chest press, shoulder press, leg press, and tri pulldown. That's it and a bunch of barbells, so I've been doing lots of basic lifting with those. I'm sorrry I do not know the name of every exercise I do, but I usually try and do a nice full-body workout at least 3x a week and cardio on the other days with one day off.
My nutrition is prettty spot on during the week and this week I am really planning to step it up, and eat 100% clean.
mattback October 1st, 2007, 02:46 PM I would lift 4-5 days a week and run 3-4 days a week. some days it overlaps, obviously.
steady state cardio after lifting heavy.
5 beers a week won't set you back majorly. but count it as your meal. calories in vs calories out.
if you cut out all alcohol you won't be very social. nobody wants that.
POLOGREEN October 1st, 2007, 02:55 PM I went to Uc Berkley in the early 70's so I know what you mean and "A" beer can actually provide some good BUT!!! You are the one who wants the benifits,,,don't give in to peer pressure, eating clean and being ripped will be the BENIFIT. 185 HR I don't think that is too much, in your complex it sounds like they might have a "universal", I would devise a plan to do a circuit routine and rest no more than 60-90 seconds between sets.
znewton1 October 1st, 2007, 05:16 PM Yeah thats usually how it goes. I rest rest about 45 seconds in between sets and get my lifting done within about 30 minutes.
I'm trying to figure out a goal weight to shoot for. Seems about 145 would be neccessary to really see some low bf%
chopsuey October 3rd, 2007, 09:50 PM ZNewton, have you checked out the body for life program (bodyForLife.com). Tgere are some books on it but I think you can get all the info for free on the website under the 'Challenge' section on the right side of the screen. I can see a big difference...
On another note, i don't understand why men greet each other with terms like Goofball.... it seems rude to this goody gooody!
