I've been to 2 different Play It Again Sports stores here in Columbus, OH in the last few days. They're both saying the same thing...that the price of dumbbells is going to be rising dramatically.
The reason they gave is that China is apparently cracking down on its polluting foundries to clean up before the Olympics. One of the stores is now selling new dumbbells for 79 cents per pound, up from 59 cents a few weeks ago. They said it will likely go higher. I don't know how this will affect used dumbbell prices, or if the prices will stay that high long term or not. But if you're in the market, run out and grab some used equipment soon!
