Hi all-

I eat oatmeal just about every morning and recently realized I might be counting the calories incorrectly. My box of oatmeal lists about 140 calories per 40g of oatmeal (which is actually a pretty big bowl of the stuff). I've been assuming this is calculated with the pre-cooked weight... i.e., that if you take 40g of raw oats, add water and cook, that the bowl of oatmeal that results should be about 140 calories.

Is this right? Or is it 40g of COOKED oatmeal (40g raw is much heavier when cooked because of the added water)? Have I been miscounting all this time?

Comments appreciated...

That's the raw weight. Weights cooked can vary based on fluid added.
