Ok, I have been reading that if protein doesn't come from some kind of animal meat it is basically no good. Here's the problem with that... I can get away with having bagels, fruit, and so on as meals between the main 3. However, I cannot bring in steaks, chicken breasts and so on. Is it ok to lean on Whey for that 10:30 meal for example? I ussually do a carb such as a bannana and apple or bagel and PB, and then 2 scoops of whey in water. However if I am being short changed by the protein ... I may have to figure out something else...

Sure, a whey product (or even better, a blended protein powder with whey and casein and maybe egg) is fine.

Another choice is jerky, but watch for the preservatives.

Ooooh! That is a good idea! I LOVE jerky! Aside from sodium considerations and preservatives as you mentioned... I think you're onto something there :D

I don't really care about the sodium personally, because I drink tons of fluids and have a good potassium intake. I think worrying too much about sodium is unnecessary for most people who don't have sodium caused hypertension (and not even all high blood pressure is affected by sodium).

Obviously don't go crazy with salt, but I think it's OK to have a few salty things in your diet if you keep your fluid intake up and eat potassium in fruits and veggies.

High sodium won't slow fat loss, it only might make you hold some water.
