Ive decided the best way for me to succeed at losing the weight is to keep this journal of the things we have been doing.

I found this website on Friday and spent half the night reading transformations and tips and tricks of the trade.

It motivated to the point of a usually sedentary person to get out of the house and bike ride with my family 7.5 miles the next day. I havent rode that much since I was a young girl. It felt so empowering and good.

This was road that according to Brian (the hubby) had no hills actually ended up having about 5 hills one way leading to ten in the end. By the end of our excursion i willed myself to make it up the last and hardest hill and it took EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING I had to get up it without stopping. But I did it!! I was so unbelievably proud of myself and knew if I can do that I can do anything.

So we have just have started our path to a healther lifestyle and are learning. Poor Brian doesnt understand when I tell him that yes cornflakes are not the worst thing you can have but they DO have sugar in them.

Oh btw I started my first weight training ever today and was again so proud of me. I found this beginner workout for the entire body. I did three sets of 8 with a 10 lb set of weights. I struggled at the end but made it and look forward to doing it again in a couple days :D

I will write some more soon....chow and keep moving:jumping:

I woke up this morning and for the first time in three days my legs are not THAT sore. Think that means me and Billy Blanks will have a date tonight (Or as my three year old calls it the Hi-Ya movie) Hee hee

As Im sitting here eating my boiled eggs and oatmeal Ive thought about what we have done since Saturday. It seems to be such a short time but already Brian (hubby) and I have noticed a big difference in ourselves. The pants were not tight at all this morning and in fact are a little loose WOOOOOHOOOO!!:claphigh:

I resurrected my journal from beyond.

Why do I think I am going to make it this time through.

1) Im not that big of a meat eater anymore and dont mind whole wheat foods

2) I have access to a treadmill and a weight machine right at my home now that I religously visit every night

3) I owe it to my boys to set a healthy example. My oldest is hitting puberty and is starting to learn that our genetics require us to make healthy life choices.

I need to be very serious about this. I am more than 100lbs over my ideal weight :nope:

My longterm goal is to lose 50lbs this year
My shorterm goal is to lose 10lbs a month

Nutrition

5meals 6am 9am 12pm 3pm 6pm

My diet has consisted of oatmeal in the morning with skim milk or an egg.

At this point Im backing off the eggs. I have ate soooo many that the idea of eating another one makes me just not want to eat.

for both 9am and 3pm i usually snack on nuts (almonds) and a fruit of some kind: banana or apple

lunch is a whole grain lean pocket and cottage cheese or egg again and some salad

Dinner is almost always chicken with a veg like broccoli, green beans

I need to get inventive on some variations to keep me sticking to it...think im going to get some choc whey powder so I can have those choc milkshakes Ive read about.

At any rate I been doing this two wks almost and am so proud of myself. Ive been good about sticking to my diet. When I do have something bad I have a little and get right back to my nutrition plan. This is a lifestyle change for me not just another diet.

I have been religous to the treadmill too and am starting to really look forward to doing it.

I would include things like chest and waist as a minimum but you could also include hips, thighs, arms, neck and body fat if you can measure it. Weight is useful but definately does not tell the whole story just look at some of John's pics to see that 210lb can look very different depending on body composition :)

Beside weights what are some good stats to report

- Body measurements
- Take pictures
- Chart your weight on a weekly basis, daily weigh-ins just mess with your head.
- Track your calorie intakes on fitday/dailyplate/etc.

Remember, it's not how much you lose on the scale, it's also how you look/feel. You could lose XX #'s of fat, and gain that back in muscle in other spots on your body, it's not always about the scale.

thanks for the input and I agree about not paying too close attn to the weight. I think that is the key reason why i failed the first time. I was more focused in on measurements and weights than just how much better I felt or how clothes were starting to feel dif.

Im gonna ck out the calorie input tracker. that is a great idea.

Tobye's super cute! He's got that gorgeous long face, too (he looks a lot like Angus - but darker). What colour are his eyes? They look green in the one pic. Looks like he'll be a big boy!

Good luck with Fitday, it's super helpful!

Tobey's eyes are a pale green/beigey color. Everyone that meets him says he is going to be huge just by looking at his paws.

So today I am overcoming the donut hurdle. I work in an office and a favorite vendor of ours just dropped off donuts and my goal today is to not eat any of them.

I did my normal 30min on treadmill and weights last night. Just for kicks I tried to do some intensity running for 30secs. I ran so fast for that 30 secs that i could not breath. Body has been sedentary for so long it is going to take some time before I can really run for extended periods of time. My plan is to use baby steps to get there.

Ever have potatoes cut up in wedges and cooked in the over on a baking sheet???? Heaven for french fry lovers

Trying very hard to put on my big girl panties and deal with the fact that Ive let myself get to this point I am at and not compare myself to others but resolve to change. It is very hard and rather depressing to think of what I have done to myself in getting this heavy.

Watched biggest loser that started Monday and all I could see was that I look like alot of those women

Big sigh....maybe walking on the tread tonight will make me feel better or kicking Brian's butt at Wii golf...hee hee

Don't get down on yourself. We all have been/some are at where you are. It's very easy to give up, but don't do it. It's happened to me in the past, as well as many others here -- but as you get further into this thing, you realize that you can get through those obstacles that have been holding you down.

Fight those urges, and just blast away on that treadmill -- here's a thought, if you haven't done so already -- create a cd, or load up your mp3 player, blast that sucker as loud as you can handle, and just runnnnn.

Don't worry about those Biggest Loser contestants .. you will be better off than those people if you committ to the healthy lifestyle. A lot of them are bouncing back to their old weights, and not retaining their information -- pretty sad, as a lot of those people looked great, but are now having the difficulty of not having the public eye watching them.

Im in this for the long haul and your suggestion for my ipod is right one. Ive noticed if I watch something on TV Im interested in it helps but having a song on i really like is so much better. Music has always been a comforter for me and it only makes since to incorporate it more in my workouts.

I was in much the same postition as you when I joined JSF, yet for me the problem wasn't weight but rather strength

I started a journal a few days after joining and after a week or two in the gym it quickly dawned that I was the weakest guy my age in the journals section bar none - the numbers are still there to prove this

I basically had a choice between giving up competely - the easy option - or comitting myself to closing the gap between me and them slowly - the option which required more committment than I have ever shown in my life before

I chose the latter - it has been one of the best choices of life

Your long term goals may seem a long way off now, but if you embrace all the decisions you can make now and keep putting in the effort from one workout to the next then you'll be amazed at what you can achieve

Good luck :)

Good morning to 25 below....brrrrrrrr that is w/o windchill factor

Did my 30min on the treadmill and took dose's advice to crank up the ipod. Amazing what how an upbeat kickbutt song can help those min on the tread fly right by. Much easier last night.

Bantering with myself about staying at work three extra hours tonight to wax the floors (i clean our office too) I still have an hour of workout to do when I get home...hmmmm think i will do a little of it all. Stay til 8 clean floors. Go home and hang out with the boys for a couple hours and than do my workout. It will be challenging but I can do it.

Today is the official two wks Ive been altering the lifestyle. I must say I feel stronger and toner not to mention the pants feel better on so Im happy.

I didnt have to work late yesterday after all ... yippeee

Came home walked on the tread for a couple minutes to warm up and tried a new weight resistance training last night thanks to a great website I found from guava.

When I did it last night it did not seem like I did enough. I started learning to do proper squats. Even though Im overweight I have always been pretty flexible so these were not to taxing. Or so I thought! I now know why they are so recommended. My legs have been hurting ever since I woke up this morning.

I did not walk much last night on the tread but made up for it today. Went walking the mall with the family. By the end of that I am usually so completely exhausted but noticed my energy level had improved. After walking for quite a bit at the mall I came home and walked Tobey for an hour. It was 12 degrees out so by the time I got home I was sore and numb but I made it.

Im so proud of myself. Ive done really good on eating habits and dont have any bad cravings. I also have been very consistent with cardio and weight resistance.

I quit smoking four years ago and thought at the time that I had overcome the hardest thing in my life but honestly this is harder. Food and cigarretes both controlled my life for so long but I have seem to overcome both. Since I quit four years ago I have not really craved cigs and it is getting to be that way with bad food. The want is there but not strong enough to be a temptation. Once I set it in my mind this is what I wanted I was able to control those desires.

Anyways Im ramblin to myself...lol... if anyone else is reading this and needs encouragement all i can say is believe in yourself and go for what you want most.

Ok im done talking ... have a good weekend everyone :tu:

Came home unexpectedly but everything is fine and was able to take Tobey on an hr walk. When we came home he played out in the snow for awhile. He had a stick he kept burying than trying to find.

After that I did my weight resistance and pushed my way through 40 squats. They kick my butt!!

As I mentioned to silver in his post I have decided to focus on eating good but not counting my calories. Im gonna try this for a month than see where I am.

Still feeling good and pushing strong. By this spring I should be able to climb the mountains. We have some 49 mountains with trails here.

Walked 30 min on the tread last night and had a friend stop by unexpectedly.

We ate wings and pizza for dinner. It amazes me that you eat clean for awhile how much better the really bad stuff tastes if you only have it once in awhile.

Tonight's food choice wont be much better. Our friends are coming over tonight and we are suppose to have my fav pizza. Yes I could resist and eat my chicken instead but Im allowing myself these two nights of bad food because Ive worked hard. If I allow myself to cheat once in awhile than I have a better chance of sticking to this lifestyle.

Tonight is weight resistance night. I look forward to doing it much more than the cardio I have to do. Im thinking of changing up my cardio just so I dont get sick of it and quit. I walk on the tread every night and it is getting old. I have Netflix and think I may find a cardio dvd to use for awhile just to change up my routine.

I read some fitness journals yesterday to see if i could find some things others have been doing that may work for me.

What I came up with is that I may want to still track my calories til I can get a good handle on them. Start coming up with meal plans I can stick to that will get me to 2000 calories a day. That is my jumping off calorie count and I will adjust from there.

My workout has been pretty rigourous for a starter and but decided I will start alternating cardio and weight resistance.

So my plan for the next month will be:

2000 calories/day
Cardio 3 days wk
Weight Resistance 3 days a wk

My diet today:

3 egg whites
1/2c oatmeal

almonds & tangerine

1/2c cottage cheese
salad with sunflower seeds & olive oil dressing

almonds apple & non sweetened applesauce

Dinner to be Chicken & broccoli

weight resistance night is consisting of
2 sets of
Squats (no weight yet) x20
bench press 35x12
lat pull down 35x12
barbell bent row 10x12
calf raises x20
crunches x20

Cardio will be 30 min of a dvd or the tread or walking the tobester

Any input is more than welcome:)

Did you run your calculations through the formulas/BMR calculators in the stickies to arrive at that number, or is it just an arbitrary number that you're using to start with? IMO, you will need to come up with the meal plans, prepare them in advance, and stick with it, because it's hard to wing it on the fly. It seems as if you realize this, and are going to follow this path from here on out.

Cardio 3 days wk
Weight Resistance 3 days a wk
That'll work -- you may want to look into a program, such as Starting Strength in order to get your 3-day split down to something specific.

Cardio will be 30 min of a dvd or the tread or walking the tobester
Try to make the best of your cardio sessions, as this is where you will see the biggest losses of fat. Push yourself when possible, when you get comfortable with the 30mins, you'll probably want to push it up to a higher level of cardio. For starting where you are at now, it's all good.

I have been thinking about getting myself a 'Tobester' recently, but with it being the winter and all, I may hold off until Spring so I can train him properly with all of the outdoor stuff. I've never had a dog, so I'm pretty much going to be learning something new come Spring.

See I was doing it everyday and read alot that cardio was less the stress as opposed to weights and nutriton and not to focus so much on it. I have been doing cardio everyday for 30min. Im afraid of overdoing it or of being counter productive

Dose I love my tobey but I think you are right in getting a puppy in the spring. I too really have never trained a dog before and let me tell you alot of bigger dogs need excersise to be happy and sane. When my dog is not out and about for awhile he can be hell on wheels and it has been hard getting him active in the winter time here. Potty training is prob easier in the spring time too. Older son locked himself out of the house and i came home early which means to my workout??? A Tobey Walk!! 40 min walk with strength training I would say since Tobey is still learning not to pull or walk in front of me.

Changed the dinner to a little more. Had chicken stir fry with brown rice.

Dug out the whey protein I had from forever ago and see if it still any good. Does it go bad???

I really need to hammer out some good meal plans for work. I work in an office all day and meals there can be challenging.

Does today's diet add up to 500 cals? Might just be me and eyeballing, but it looks to be quite a bit lower than that...I'd guess something like 1200. Are you using Fitday or something similar?

Did you run your calculations through the formulas/BMR calculators in the stickies to arrive at that number, or is it just an arbitrary number that you're using to start with? IMO, you will need to come up with the meal plans, prepare them in advance, and stick with it, because it's hard to wing it on the fly. I agree with everything dose said. For the workouts, you may want to do your best to get at least 3 sets in. You'll also want to do some checking so that you can vary your program a bit and get some sort of "split" going. A split is when you split your body parts/workout styles over separate workouts. For example, you'll see splits that are things like "back/biceps/legs/abs" on Day 1 and "chest/shoulders/triceps/legs/abs" (or something like that) for Day 2 or "push exercises" (e.g. bench press, squats, military press, etc) and "pull exercises" (e.g. lat pulldown, curls, rows, etc.). I'm doing two "full body routines" for my split where I do different types of exercises that exercise various body groups in different ways on the two different days (i.e. squats and lunges to work my legs, pullups and rows to work my back, etc).

Dose is definitely right about your cardio (in my opinion). Cardio is really important for a lot of things, beyond just fat loss - although that is where it's extremely valuable. There's something to be said for being able to jog a short distance (or long one!) without getting out of breath, for being able to keep up with your kids on a bike ride, or even to be able to take the Tobester on a 3 hour brisk hike in the woods on a beautiful spring day!

I have been thinking about getting myself a 'Tobester' recently, but with it being the winter and all, I may hold off until Spring so I can train him properly with all of the outdoor stuff. I've never had a dog, so I'm pretty much going to be learning something new come Spring.

If you don't have a ton of snow where you are, then it's not a bad time to get one now (or soon) as not a lot of training (aside from potty training) occurs in the early months. Early spring would probably be ideal, though. Potty training out of the way and then you get to enjoy the summer training the dog. A lot of more advanced stuff won't really sink in until the dog is a fair amount older (at least a year old for a lot of the stuff) anyway (at least for us).

See I was doing it everyday and read alot that cardio was less the stress as opposed to weights and nutriton and not to focus so much on it. I have been doing cardio everyday for 30min. Im afraid of overdoing it or of being counter productive

If your only real goal is to lose weight and improve body composition:

1. Nutrition
2. Nutrition
3. Nutrition
4. Weights
5. Cardio

Again, though, it depends on your goals. For a lot of us, there's more to what we're doing than just slimming down. I don't just want to be slimmer, I want to be able. That means a combination of strength and cardiovascular fitness, for me. A balance of 3 days of each isn't a bad idea, though. What you do for your cardio makes a big difference. A method that has been successful for a lot of people is to focus on heart rate and keeping it in specific "zones" for certain periods - a fairly well accepted number around here is 65-70% of max HR for 35 - 45 minutes while in a fasted state. I don't know that that's necessarily true or the "best" way, but it seems to work for several. I personally almost always do fasted cardio so that I don't puke..

Dose I love my tobey but I think you are right in getting a puppy in the spring. I too really have never trained a dog before and let me tell you alot of bigger dogs need excersise to be happy and sane. It's true, dose. It can be a LOT of work to keep the dog exercised in crappy weather. We walk Angus twice a day almost every single day except in extreme weather - usually for 45 to an hour each walk. I walk him at night for purported safety reasons - so I'm always dealing with icy roads, darkness, and bitter cold. I even often walk him in the park near us at night (where it's very dark) because it's less icy than on the road. I just don't let him off leash at night to avoid having him get eaten by coyotes.

We tend to err on the side of giving the dog what he needs, meaning that we put a lot of effort into getting him out for exercise even when we don't feel like it. I just don't want a fat dog who is unruly because he's underexercised!

Older son locked himself out of the house and i came home early which means to my workout??? A Tobey Walk!! 40 min walk with strength training I would say since Tobey is still learning not to pull or walk in front of me.

Maybe try one of these harnesses (http://www.softouchconcepts.com/products/sense_ible_harness.html). They are SUPER for preventing pulling, generally. The leash attaches to the ring at the front of the chest, so it's uncomfortable for him to pull ahead of you much. Our neighbours saw how Angus rarely pulls and tried a SENSI-ble harness on their labradoodle that pulled like crazy (always choking herself!) and it worked great.

So I just checked the bottom of my big jug of whey and found out it is best by March 07 :spitwater:....it has been with me for awhile I guess. Better add that to the bill list for this wk...lol

I am still trying to hammer out my diet because I do believe I prob have not been eating enough calories. Im going to buy a scale soon to just to get an accurate measure of what I am eating.

Im def taking your guys advice and checking out SS for some ideas of weight resistance. And also going to get some new whey protein.

Im glad I asked about the cardio and know there are others out there that are doing it alot too. My legs are feeling it and are getting alot toner.

Silver I am looking honestly to slim down but also have the stamina to play with my kids. I would love to know what it feels like to be able to run and not get out of breath so quick. Ive made bad choices for so long that I cant keep up anymore and want to be around for my boys when they are older too.

Thanks for the idea for Tobey. I will have to try the leash.

Feeling good about the future. Looked at SS training and decided to look for a barbell set & weights for the house when I can come up with the mula. For now I have a good routine I do every other day on my weider gym and my 10lb dumbbell.

Went on Fitday today and came up with a solid dietplan of 1700 calories and breakdown of 40/30/30 p/c/f

Went to Atlargenutrition got my protein, fish oil and multi-vitamins

Hope everyone has a great weekend

I totally pushed myself tonight. Watched SS positioning on squat and did 40 weightless ones tonight with the rest of my weight routine.

After did my tread for 30 min and pushed as far as I could with it. I could barely walk up the stairs when I was finished but it sure feels good

What kind of Weider have you got? You may not need to invest a whole bunch of money in stuff if you can get away with a good amount with what you've got already. If you have a bench, a few dumbbells (or even one of those variable weight dumbbells sets) would really meet most people's needs.

Silver I have a weider home gym that does sitting bench presses, lat bar, leg extensions, curl station, chest presses and cable bent row. I have a 10lb dumbell that has been good for know but I will soon outgrow it. My husband says we have a curling bar so all i need to buy are dumbbell bars and some weight plates. Relativily cheap. Gonna wait a couple weeks til I can fit them in to the bills.

I had a pretty productive couple days. Friday planned out my meals for the wk and bought some Nitrean from At Large. Saturday I went and picked up what I needed for meals and also got some protein powder to get me through til the other comes in.

Did a aerobic dvd sat night and wasnt really impressed but got the heart pumping and got through it.

Today I cooked my meals for the week and took Tobey on a walk.

Check out Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/) in your area, and see if you can find some deals.

Great job! Your husband will get jealous soon and start working out, too.

Great progress and keep it up - you've definitely got the right mindset. You're not thinking about shortcuts or easy ways out - just the not-so-hard work that's needed to keep going. Congrats!

Aww thanks :D

Silver Im already rubbing off on the hubby. Hes so persuadable...lol He had a couple of my protein shakes yesterday and he took Tobey on a walk with a harness because I get home too late. The harness rocks thanks for the idea! I noticed yesterday it is gradually starting to stay lighter longer.

Yesterday was -15 in the morn and this morning a heavenly 14. A good thing about the cold weather is I can really push myself outside without having the heat factor. I am miserable in the summer heat but hopefully will have better stamina by than.

Feeling really good about the diet. Did the workout last night and pulled a muscle in my arm. It only hurts when I do presses so need to take it easy with those til it heals back up.

Pushed hard through workout yesterday...go me!

Got my At large order today!!

Very worried about the husband. He hurt his back yesterday and has a job that requires heavy lifting. Man I hope he is okay and it is just a pulled muscle.

We have a big winter storm coming in today 12-20 inches by 1am thursday morn. Given that the hub is having back problems looks like I have shoveling to do when I get off work at my house and I have to drive over to my mom's and do hers too. No workout today after work but shlepping all that snow should be a workout in itself.

thanks deja! He loves his cars!

Before leaving work last night my mom called and said her neighbor plowed her out. YAY! So I got to go home and do my weight resistance workout. The muscle I pulled on the bench press is much better and was able to lift with it but did not overdo it.

I realised last night I have been doing lat and presses at 43.5 lbs The lat I stepped up last night another weight which put it at 56lbs.

Def progressing overall. Starting to feel tighter and needing to bump weights up.. Yippeee :tu:

Noticed my weight went up a tad but not stressing it since I know that I have been eating clean and doing my workouts. Im going with it is muscle:D

It getting very close to the month mark that Ive made my lifestyle change: What have I learned:

I will NOT die without chocolate or fried food

Food is not the answer to making myself feel better

I will NOT die doing cardio and it does get easier after time

Me and the treadmill may never like each other but we can compromise

Eating clean, cardio and weight resistance will make me feel great

I can lose weight despite my genetics

I like this new Brandy :D

Did not have the cleanest eating weekend but I was smart for the most part and Im active everyday.

The thread that showed how weight can be deceiving sure applies to me. I have been doing weight resistance three days a week and cardio everyday for the last month. Although my weight has not fluctuated much I have lost two inches in the last two weeks! In fact Im wearing a shirt today that did not fit when I first started this venture.

Im gonna try really hard to be clean clean clean this wk

Im sooooo ready for longer days to be outside more during the wk and start planting some flowers

Time to change up the picture. I have been doing almost 60lbs on my lat pulldowns and these pink 5lb dumbbells just arent me anymore

Did my workout Friday night :bb: and really need to get bigger dumbell weights soon

Saturday spent the day with the kids going to Saranac Lake where they make huge castles out of ice from the lake. very cool. There was a maze within the castle and also a pirates of the caribbean ship. We than walked around Lake Placid. All in all a good day with lots of walking.

Sunday I did nothing and it was great :p

Took some before pics yesterday and cannot wait to see my progress in a month. Just wish I would have done it from the start. Those pics were enough motivation to keep going because I was NOT impressed with what I saw.

I have taken tape measurements and know that I am making some great progress.

Did my weight again last night and def need to get weights this coming weekend.

Not the biggest fan of tuna but found it is quite yummalicious mixed with an egg white and oatmeal than fried like an egg:eat:

I got the strawberry protein from Atlarge and I dont like it but slug it down since I know it is good for me. I found a powder at Walmart of all places that is quite tasty and seems to match nutritional info.

Also tried soyjoy bars last night and they are pretty yummy too.

:confused::nope: Hmm, sounds very odd. I prefer mine mixed with a little bit of light Miracle Whip and a bunch of mustard + green onions and plenty of pepper. Mmm.

Do you have a blender? I find pretty much all protein powders to be relatively unpleasant on their own (except my chocolate one that I get at Costco up here...made by a Canadian company - pretty good with just milk). That being said, if you can whip up a tasty smoothie, they're WAY more enjoyable. I buy unsweetened frozen fruit from Costco (peaches, strawberries, grapes, etc) and toss a handful or so into the blender with half of a banana, some fat free yogurt (usually flavoured with Splenda), sometimes a bit of oats, some AllGreens, some flax meal, and some Crystal Light and then add the protein powder. Makes for a MUCH MUCH MUCH better (and more nutritious) shake.

I like Clif Builder bars...yummy.

Silver that shake sounds really good. Ill have to give that a whirl

Found that my willpower totally caves under pressure. Had a very stressful day at work and basically amounts to that I have to do more work no more pay and not the best or most informative people to work with so I was really feeling it.

How do you think I dealt with this and most stress in my life. Instant gratification through comfort food and no excersize. My cheat meals are getting far too abundant AND I need to break the dependency on food to make me feel better.

Fingers crossed for me to keep my mouth shut with my coworkers, eat clean through stress and to be suzy sunshine. It takes alot of work but Im tired of being miserable.

Tonight is weight training night. How I love those squats so. Not! But I do it cause they are amazing for toning the legs.

Doing my weight resistance tried to be She-Ra and pulled a muscle in my arm but Ill just give it some rest and stretch more before my weight resistance tom.

I can do 75-80lbs on lat pulldowns but only 50 on bench press.

Decided to start taking a 30min power walk every day at work and told the girls in my office in case one of them wants to go on any given day. The company will be great but if they dont go than I can push my self harder.

LOL I really dont care. She doesnt want a soda or fries or a choc bar....wow miss goodie

I honestly think my coworkers feel bad about their own habits when they see me going out for walks everday now and eating really good. Im not critiquing anyone else at work yet Im still getting the weird vibe from them. But its ok I dont care. Im starting to actually enjoy my walks and the energy Im gaining is totally worth it.

Started the SS program last night and did well with it. Was a lot less sets and reps than the other workout I was doing so it felt kinda weird but rock on if I can get great results and do less

Don't feel bad about your new habits. If anything, it may rub off on them as they see your results. Be the trendsetter, not a follower.
