View Full Version : whats your best time for 5k?
paolo12345678910 Fri, April 23rd, 2004, 02:06 PM Just wondering what the people's best are on this board. I can run 5k in about 45 minutes now which is pretty bad but I'm working on it. The best time in Toronto was like 16.02 and the best time I think, al I'm sure of is that its by a kenyan is around 13 minutes :d_eek: . The fastest runner I know is my age and can run 5k in 24 minutes, He only trains 2 times a week too and he can prolly go faster.
BeefKakBuk Fri, April 23rd, 2004, 02:56 PM In highschool I ran a 5k in 17:54. I was fast, and could run for a long time, but I wasn't a good runner. My first mile was 4:48, I thought I couldn't keep that up(should have tried though). I slowed my second mile and ran it in 6:30, and finished the last mile and change in about 6:30. I never did learn how to pace myself or control my speed.
I would be WAY off of that mark now, but I have been thinking about getting back on the pavement.
chicanerous Fri, April 23rd, 2004, 03:33 PM Haven't timed a 5k since October, but I think my PR was between 23 and 25 minutes closer to 24. I don't remember the exact time but I have it at home (which I don't live at.)
CaseyLS Fri, April 23rd, 2004, 09:54 PM My fastest 5k in high school was a 21:15, but a month ago I ran the first 5k of a 10k in 21:05. I am running a 5k tommarrow and I am gunning for something under 20:00.
paolo12345678910 Sat, April 24th, 2004, 02:29 AM nice times, I wanna aim for about 20 by then end of this year, Goodluck tommorow casey
Vires Sat, May 15th, 2004, 01:40 PM Florida(where I live) is home to some of the most elite runners in the U.S. The 400m record was broken by over half a second this season(new record 45.3).
The top 25 5k runners in the 1A-4A divisions are all under 16 minutes. 18:07 is my current record from last season and training starts for the next in 1 week! :D EDIT:
Also the 100m best time is 10.28,200m 20.4, both of which I believe I are national bests.

AMR Tue, May 18th, 2004, 10:58 AM The fastest I've ever run was 5 miles in 30 min. a 6min mile. That would put my fastest 5k time at just over 18 min.
I typicaly run a 5k now in about 24 min. 8 min pace.
paolo12345678910 Thu, May 20th, 2004, 03:08 PM oh crap, I've been running for about 1 and a half months now. I couldnt even run 6 minutes straight at teh beginning, seriously! and I've been reading my machine wrong the whole time, I knew i wasn't that slow. Apparently the distance is measured in mph even though theres a button preset for 5k, says in the manual. I was gonna run an hour today but at about 31 minutes, the distance measure 3. something and starting beeping and blinking and stopped. So my ass is not slow, and I can definitley trim that down to the 20's in a couple of months. I probably can run 5k in 24 minutes now because right now I run on a 70% target heart rate, and I'm almost speed walking:tu:
Dyogenez Tue, July 20th, 2004, 06:42 PM 5k, I remember when that might as well have been 100k. :p I'm just starting to build my endurance up now, but I finished my first 3 mile run in 25:10 today. I'm aiming to build up to a half-marathon at 8min/mi pace by december which seems possible i hope^^
