Well...so I bought this NB 5100 upright bike...

http://www.newbalancefitness.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=nb/itemdetl.html?item=5-NB51EB-926

2 days later, the thing freaked out on me... computer would turn off, thing would beep at me. Since I threw the huge box it came in away, I had to buy another one, put it together, take the "old" one apart, pack it, take it back to the store.

So, 2 solid weeks into it.... 40 minutes workouts in the morning.. everything is fine.. I am loving it... until today....I get on my SECOND copy of this piece of junk...start pedaling... and big E1 is flashing on the screen. I go to their website... no help.. no support.

I am so efing pissed off right now, that I can't even explain. I don't have time to drive back and fort to the damn store, returning 300lbs machine, packing it, unpacking it, just because someone in CHINA can't put the efing thing together.

I JUST WANT TO WORK OUT DAMNIT!!!!

Probably when I go to the store tomorrow, they will look at me and think that I am doing something wrong and don't know how to operate 5 button stationary bike.

Sorry for the rant...but I was really looking forward to do 60 mintues of cardio tomorrow, with different settings, but it looks like I will be just pedaling on a setting that this thing decides to stay on...or not...

Either way, I dont' care... still will put my 60 minutes of cardio in the morning, even if that thing starts smoking.

Rant over..

PS: Stay away from this junk... unless you want to get your workout running back and from the store returning that thing...

So I called New Balance Customer Service today. I have to say, the lady was helpful. I don't know if her solution will help my problem but she said to change the batteries. E1 message means that either batteries are low or there is a loose connection in the computer.

What's weird is that I have the bike plugged into the wall...so why the heck would I need batteries anyways?

We'll see... I will buy damn batteries today and try it out.

If not, they are sending me new computer unit.

BOOOO!!!

But at least they seem helpful and know something about their products...

Well... I should of wait for resolution before trashing them. I have to say, they been nothing but helpful. Props to New Balance.

Here is what happened.

I took my 2nd bike home... it was all good for about a week or so, and then it stopped giving me resistance on the pedals...so I called and lady told me to change batteries. So I did, but nothing, same thing.

So I call New Balance and they send me new computer unit (the top part that has all the settings)....along with new cable that plugs the computer to the bottom part and the whole neck piece....so I plug it in, no change.. still doesn't give me resistance.

Now get this:

I call them YESTEDAY AFTERNOON...talk to some young guy, tell him my story.. he says that I probably need a whole new base unit (the bottom big part where pedals attach to). That was YESTERDAY at 6pm EST. I come from work TODAY and the package is already here.

They send me whole new bike. ....So I put it together, and IT WORKS!

So I guess I had just bad luck. 2 bad bikes in a row, but I have to say, their customer service is OUTSTANDING. They gave me no problems, no questions.... I said it was broken...they said "OK, parts are on their way". Very nice....

Now I can bike with upper settings :)
