I went to the doctor about a shooting pain that I had been having over the last year. It occurs probably about once every three months. After an initial checkout, the doctor informed me that I had a congenital hernia. He said that because it didn't seem to be getting worse, surgery was not absolutely necessary.

However, my current insurance runs out in december and if I am going to get the surgery I need to do it before then.

That being said, I'm currently bulking and have been for the past two months, I wanted to get at least another month or so of bulking in before I began cutting. I am having greater size gains than I have ever had before and my strength is through the roof.

If I opt to get the surgery, I will not be able to work out for four to six weeks and I'm afraid that would have an incredibly dibilitating effect on my muscle size and body fat percentage.

Should I start cutting before the surgery for fear that I will lose muscle and gain sizeable amounts of fat?
