Hi everyone, I'm just starting to get back into the gym (now that I moved and work from home, I added a little weight, not in a good way though). Now I want to add weight in a great way. Back in California I had a trainer for a few sessions (came free at the gym) and she had me on a similar meal plan as below.

So far, here's how my meal plan is looking (I can be a picky eater at times unfortunately, no seafood for sure unless it's alligator):

6:30am whey protein powder w/ 1c milk
7:00am 1c wheaties w/ .5c milk & 1 med apple
9:00am 2 eggs, 2c orange juice, 2 slices toast w/ 1tbsp pbutter
12:00pm 1c orange juice, 2 slices bread, 2 slices turkey, 1 slice cheese
3:00pm 2 small tortillas, 1 slice cheese, 1 med apple
4:30pm workout (lift odd, cardio even)
6:00pm 8oz boneless skinless chicken breast, 2 small tortillas
7:00pm whey protein powder w/ 1c milk

Bread is whole wheat, milk is 2%, oj is non-sweetened, tortillas are flour, turkey is regular (not honey or anything)

Totals are around 2500 calories, 320g carb, 170g prot, 62g fat

Stats: 28yrs old, 6' tall, currently 165lbs - for a while I was up to about 170-175, back in California (albeit not in the best shape or eating the best) I was around 150-155.

Any thoughts so far?

Thanks!

Tim

I was thinking about steak, but I thought it'd be too fatty. Is there a particular cut I should be looking at?

Right now I've got a freezer full of new yorks, bacon wrapped sirloin, ribeyes, and top sirloin. The wife and kids will take care of those eventually (we picked them up shortly before I decided to take on this task). Unfortunately, none of the meat has the nutritional information provided, otherwise I'm sure I could compensate for a steak every now and again. I'll have to dig around the internet, see if I can pull up some generic information for those cuts.

Well, I haven't gone as far as getting a tool to measure body fat %, but some rough calulations I've found say I'm at about 17-20% body fat.

Based on that, should I be eating as many calories as I currently am or bring that down to first cut, then back up to build muscle? Or just incorporate more cardio to help bring down the body fat % and burn off some of those calories?

Thanks for any help!
