Fasted LISS to be exact....I had been doing cardio for a while then stopped for a little bit...but i was doing it inside a gym on an elliptical...but now im doing fasted LISS outdoors...and it is sort of hilly...would that make a difference? The soreness went away after the first two days of course...I was just wondering if anyone experienced something similar with LISS?

Elliptical is no impact, so that's why you probably didn't experience soreness. If you are doing cardio outdoors, I'm going to guess running/light jogging. They'll have more of an impact on your joints (especially if done on concrete) so it's not surprising you are feeling sore. To reduce the impact, try running on grass.

Now I just found out that the gym across from me opens at 6 am....so I said to myself why the hell am i running outside ...is there a difference in LISS if you do it outside or inside say on a treadmill...a bike...or an elliptical? Thanks

And what is the length of fasted LISS most people do? I go with 20 mins....is that average?

appreciate the responses

There is a difference in LISS if you do it outside and on a treadmill. Obviously, running outside will have more of an impact on the joints. Treadmills these days are designed to reduce the impact on your joints, which may be better in terms of soreness. But running outside burns more calories. For example, if you compare running outside at 7mph and running on treadmill at 7mph, running outside will burn more calories.

As for differences in bike, elliptical, other machines, there is also a difference as well. Bike and elliptical are both have zero impact on your joints, which may be a safer option than running. But bike burns less calories than the elliptical (a lot less).

For the length of fasted LISS, most people go for 45min. But that doesn't mean you have to do 45min. If you can get results with less cardio, why do more? IMO, save more cardio for plateau breakers.

You can be sore after any kind of exercise. Not everyone gets sore every time. It's not as common with LISS as with heavy work, but it's not abnormal.

I know I sure feel sore after an MMA routine. If there's any sort of impact in your cardio, chances are you'll feel the soreness the next morning.

i generally try to work hard enough to make something sore when doing the elliptical (thighs mostly), walking on the treadmill (whole leg, really) and stationary bike (thighs mostly).

the elliptical and bike especially give me a fair burn in the thighs....

Less than the recommended average for a true LISS session, but based on your diet and strength training, it just depends on what kind of expenditure you need from the activity to contribute to your fat loss. If your results indicate you need to be doing more, you know it's an area you can increase to try and accelerate your fat loss. How many sessions per week are you doing?

Venuto reccomends doing 30-60 min for maximum fat loss (5-7days). 20-30min (3-4 days) to maintain or gain muscle. It use to seem like a lot but I'm doing cardio everyday right now and I'm enjoying it.

Ideally 7...but realistically it will be 6 most of the weeks
