I read that you should not max out more than 1 time per month or you could overtrain. My football team maxes out once a week and there all pretty big and strong. The coaches set up a program for them they follow. These coaches know where there doing and are pretty successful. My football team has one 2 consecutive CCEAST championships. What do u thinkabout maxing out 1 time a week for 2 months straight.

I read that you should not max out more than 1 time per month or you could overtrain. Depends on a lot of other factors. If training intensity is cycled properly, and you're getting adequate rest, and you're not maxing on multiple exercises, it's probably fine.

What do u thinkabout maxing out 1 time a week for 2 months straight. Depends on your goals. As I said, if this is a cycle, or a 4-week periodization setup, it's probably fine. If the main goal is strength, if training sessions are cycled correctly, it can work. If the main goal is hypertrophy, maxing is never necessary.

I would think that you could max out every time. Of course, what is the point? What is the point of once a week?

Sounds more like your coaches want to gage the strength of the team.

Before I started working out at home I used to max out weekly on Bench Presses and was much stronger than I am now. I'll get that 20 extra lbs back on my bench press someday!
