I've always heard the addage that getting adequate rest is essential for muscle growth and training in general. I had been averaging 5-6 hours a night lately, but last night got a good 9 hours. Hit the gym this morning and easily got a new personal best on my deadlift. I'm not sure if it was actually the sleep or the fact that Max-OT is actually working, but I'll take it!

Yeah, I've heard that about sleep too. Unfortunately, I have two small children who haven't yet grasped the concept of sleep

how little?

Are you referring to my kids?...I have a boy who's four and wakes up most nights with night terrors, and a girl who's 16 months and will only sleep for a max of 4 hours at a time. My boy was the same until about the age of two.

I have two kids as well, 10 months and 5 years. The nights I have them usually accounts for the sleep loss :D

This is kind of a paradox, but I get too little sleep (avg. 6.5 hours per night) because I stay up too late reading about exercise and nutrition on the net :p

From the sounds of it, I guess I shouldn't complain, but I have a 6 month old at home who always wants to get up at 6:30 am. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but I go to school at night and don't get to bed til about midnight. That doesn't leave me with much sleep. :( But like I said, I shouldn't complain, he goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps all the way through the night so 11 hours is pretty darn good. He's been doing that since 7 weeks, but I remember how hard it was before that, so I feel your pain.... ;)

Jeeze, sometimes you can't WAIT for kids, and other times... ;)
gl with all that.
I'm sure I'll know your pain soon enough

If I didnt have to work so early I would always get enough sleep. But I do and I'm kinda a night owl so 5-6 hrs if I'm lucky. I have a 9 month old at home. She wakes me up twice a night!

Man, I'd be worthless if I got 5 - 6 hours a night. I need 8 hours a night minimum to function. I guess I've always been kind of a wimp in that regard. I too have a little one (just turned 1 year), and he's also got less than desirable sleep habits. Fortunately, I'm a night owl and my wife is a morning person, so it all works out pretty well!
