I'm new to this forum and just starting out with a program to lose weight. One thing I've done is increase my water intake. However, if I drink a lot of water (1/2 liter or more) before workouts I find myself getting bad heartburn afterwards.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it. I'm not a fan of taking medication. I'd rather combat it with the proper food or drink.
Thanks

I used to have a major heartburn problem. And I was only 16! I've been to like 5 doctors to fix it. None of them could fix it, even the super famous doctor from Johns Hopkins. It was only after I got rid of junk food and replaced it with whole unprocessed foods that my heartburn problem died.

Yeah, I also had really bad heartburn problems back in the day. Unfortunately, I think heartburn relief is more a result of getting in shape and living a healthy lifestyle than something you can take care of early in the game.
Also, if you just have occasional heartburn, there's rarely a good reason to take a medication that affects your stomach-acid production. Straight-up antacids like Tums work just fine.

Two questions:
When do you work out?
What do you eat 3 to 4 hours before that?
Why do I ask? Well I won't lie, when I first started out I did not have a stellar diet :) I used to have salami sandwiches at like 4pm and do cardio + lift at 6pm... Had the same issues as you, the more water I drank the more burpy I got and the more heartburn I had ( even during my workout I was feeling pukish ). So if you are eating heavy and high in fat even hours before your workout and upset your stomach PH levels, adding water only makes you burp the crap back up. If you lift at say 6pm, your 3:00 or 4:00 meal should be some lean protein + a carb.
Example:
3pm Banana + 1 Scoops of Whey in Water
5pm (right before you work out) ::
Apple
7pm :Post workout:
1 Scoop of whey in apple or grape juice.
7:30pm Dinner
Fish + Broccoli or asparagus
Try something like that, not necesarily the dinner ( although thats what I have when I cut ), but try eating lighter and cutting out greasy / heavy things hours b4 the workout. Again if you're doing so already ... I dont know that :) Let us know, but from experience I can tell you that a heavy meal and nuke me for hours.
