back in early may, i joined a new gym and for the first time ever was predominantly using free weights. due to this, my form probably wasn't too good on exercises like curls (which i would do standing up), and my stabilizing muscles probably weren't very strong as i hadn't used them very much. about a week into this, i started to exeperience what felt like a severe stitch or stomach cramp in my lower left abdomen. at first, it would come mainly when i would do cardio after lifting about 2 minutes into it. this, along with the fact that i'm in pretty good shape and hadn't been experiencing stomach cramps during cardio previously, plus that it was always predominantly on the left side, led me to believe that it was more of a muscular thing than digestive or due to dehydration or something.
for a few days there, the pain got extremely intense, even when i wasn't exercising. a simple walk up and down the hill in my neighborhood would leave me in agony, having to clutch my lower-left stomach. this was not good.
i rested for a week or so, and this intense pain seemed to go away. it returned, however, in recent weeks as what again seemed to be cramps brought on by cardio that would be not excruciating, but painful enough to make me need to stop. it would come and go, but generally not rear its head while i wasn't exercising. now, however, i'm again in pretty bad pain sitting at my desk, and i havent done any weightlifting in days or cardio since yesterday (i felt fine during it).
the pain is a very sharp, stinging sensation right above and to the right of what i believe is my left pelvic bone (the pointy thing right under where the love handles would be, right). it hurts worse when i press on it. does anyone know what this may be? i fear that it may be a hernia or a strained oblique or something, but i'm not knowledgable on these injuries at all and don't really have ample money to see a doctor currently. anyone with any expertise on this who can suggest what probably is my situation, and if a doctor visit is an absolute necessity?
