If a few of you a fortunate to have a stereo (or control of) in your gym, what music do you listen to? I thought I'd post up some of the music I listen to, and feel free to add your own to the list

1) Ultra by KMFDM (I love this one the most, it gets my blood pumping like mad)

2) Better than You by Metallica

3) My Friend of Misery by Metallica

4) Point of Authority by Linkin Park

5) Way I am - Eminem

6) Mortal Kombat theme techno remix (how can any workout cd be without this one?)

7) Wait and Bleed by Slipknot

8) Meaning of Life by Offspring

About all I can think of off hand. But hey if you got your own songs, list them! Aside frmo myself, I'm sure other people wouldn't mind finding some new training music

I listen to trance livesets from DJs like Armin, Tiesto, Ferry, PVD, Gielen, etc and psytrance albums from Astral Projection and the like.

I listen to metal, and by metal I mean real metal. Stuff like Nile, Vital Remains, Amon Amarth, The Black Dahlia Murder, Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Opeth, As I lay Dying, Death, Cradle of Filth, old Metallica (battery is such an awesome song to workout to, I'll go as far as to say it's the best ever), Slayer, Napalm Death, Entombed, and Soilwork on occassion. I listen to other metal bands but these I think are more suited to working out. The user name is from the In Flames album, but in general they are too melodic for working out. Nothing beats brutal, loud, agressive, abrasive music when you are working out.

Chemical Brothers - "Hey Boy Hey Girl" - great song for cardio
Rob Zombie - "Scum of the Earth" - my favorite song to lift to - gets me feeling pumped & aggressive.

6) Mortal Kombat theme techno remix (how can any workout cd be without this one?)

Awesome! Now I've gotta go dig that CD out and listen to that song. :tucool:

I rarely listen to music while I lift, but sometimes I'll listen to Prodigy when I do cardio. Although now that I imported all my music to my laptop I may get to making a few new workout CD's (including the Mortal Kombat remix theme, of course). ;)

Hey, to each their own! My musical tastes run ridiculously far and wide, and if it gets me going, it's good for working out. Or swing dancing. Depends on the day.

I like KMFDM, too. I have like 3 of their CDs but have not listened to them in a while. I need to dust them off and give them a spin...

Just got Scum of the Earth by Rob Zombie. Freaking amazing, I'm just going to type in Rob Zombie in kazaa and just download all of his music. I've heard 3 or 4 others aside from this one and they're great as well.

btw, I only know that one song from KMFDM. If anyone has any other great songs by this band, I'm all ears

Another song I like is Straight to Hell by the Urge (I think thats the song name) It's not fast and super heavy like Rob Zombie but the lyrics are motivational (them's fightin' words in fact)

I like metal as much as anybody.. but after playing in Nor Cal metal/thrash bands for about 15 years I'm kinda burnt on it sometimes.. plus I'm always analyzing the guitar parts(which for 9 out of 10 modern bands takes me about 1 second). For my workouts, I usually will have The Reverend Horton Heat or some classic Rory Gallagher, both amazing players who never really made it huge because they stuck to their guns musically and played what they wanted.. Rory passed away a few years back, but the Rev is still going strong.

you need to ease off the metal guys... :p
I think the best music to workout to (especially cardio) is your fast breakbeat/electro/house. Something like the Plump DJs, Felix Da Housecat, that sort of thing. Some of the best tunes for getting you going would have to be:

Plump DJs - Scram
Jeans Team & MJ Lan - Keine Melodien
Chemical Brothers - Out of Control
Prodigy - Voodoo People

I usually bring my Mp3 player to the gym with me, I can't stand the house mixes they play over the stereo system

I have a bunch of playlists that I use for the gym, but definately the one that gets most play time is my LP mix (Linkin Park) technically it's not really a mix though, just a compilation of their two main albums Hybrid and Meteora

I recommend anything off of their Nihil and WWIII albums. There other stuff is good, but some people who aren't fans might not like it right away. Check amazon.com for the track list if you're curious what songs are on those two. A good track not on either of those albums is Megalomaniac.
