A few years ago I sustained a very bad infection in my left leg from hitting it repeatedly on hurdles in Gym Class (I was the fat kid that could never get over them).
I had been having trouble with my leg prior but it wasn't until I went in for this and had scans of all sorts done on my leg were they able to diagnose what was wrong. Prior to this, and even now, my left knee makes an odd crunching noise every time I go up stairs, and I think my right is starting to do it.
The explanation they gave me was that the cartilage that lines the inner side of the knee cap was slightly detaching from the bone, the crunch noise, and occasional locking up and cracking of the joint is the loose cartilage hooking onto another part of the joint.
It can be fixed with minor surgery, but I've put it off since it really doesn't affect me too badly day-to-day, nor does it hold be back from anything.
With the sounds now coming from my right knee I am wondering if there is anything out there that adds support to knees to lessen the chance of joint injury or pain when doing things like squats, deadlifts, legpress and even cardio?
Thanks,
Colin
